I figured I would bust some hush on my plank with the cans. Can only help the cause that big planes are not loud. I ordered up 10 x 5955's. I think its a little overkill, but I would rather be on the safe side. I am going to guess that yall running cans are also getting more power with them in?

If you used two 5955's on each aileron, do you think that would be enough? I see a lot of 40% planes with just 2 aileron servos and they seem to fly pretty good. Kyle Worshins only flies with two...

You can take a heat gun and warm up the vinyl a bit, then it will start to peel, but will leave some goo behind, but not too hard to get it off.

I watched Chris Maier fly his 41% 3W extra with just (according to him) two 8411's on each aileron and on each elevator. I will say that my Carden CAP had flown for YEARS on 2 5945's on the ailerons and ONE on each elevator half. Now I am not a rocket scientist but I am willing to bet I am going to be over kill. I am prolly going to buy another WH Extra and going to do just two servos per surface and use like 5985's. That or I will use my CAP as a test bed...I mean it never fell out of the air flying like that before. We will see and the plane is not exactly that expensive so I wont mind dorking one in the name of science!! Heck its prolly one of the best deals for a 41% plane.

I have the same scheme as the one Bill Hempel has. Its very cool and scale looking. What does the sunburst scheme look like (or is that the sunburst scheme?)??

I think the primary reason for using three servos/aileron was the lack of torque with older servos. You probably need a good 350+ in/oz. of torque on a 40% aileron, plus multiple servos to help stabilize it. Now that we can get a 300+ in./oz. torque servo, two should do just fine, but that's just my $0.02. There's a guy at my field that flies the crap out of a 40% Carden CAP and he just has two servos on the aileron and the rudder. The servos are probably 8411's to since he built it pre-8611. I need to take a closer look at it though. |

I did not even have to use a heat gun on mine..... Just carefully picked it with a hobby knife tip and they peeled right off. No residue left behind either..... | ||||||||||||||||||

I just got my third 41%, I lost the first one in a crash, the NTSB is still wondering what happened. I'm still flying the second one and the third one is the yellow, I can't wait to finish it. The yellow is my favorite. The first one had 2 servos per aileron, one per stab, and 3 on the rudder (8611's). It flew great. The second one I got used from someone who put all the servos in, even 2 on each stab, he had to put 36ozs of lead in the nose to balance it. Now it has only one per stab plus I took all the weight out of the nose, its flies much better expecially with over 3 pounds taken out. As far as 3 servos per aileron its not needed for IMAC. The one I'm putting together now will only have 10 servos total. Yes the yellow one is my favorite and the the new wings and hinges look great. Wildhare has added another intivation to the hobby that has shaken the competition and the Wildhare haters. |
