Default IMAC PLANE SUGGESTION

Hello!

Who was the dominant plane manufactuer in IMAC this year? Also was the 35% or 40% scale dominant? May be a loaded question(s) but I am gearing up for the 07 season and have considered buying the Comp ARF 3m Extra260 but I am doing homework at this stage. Has anyone flew the new 2.6m Comp ARF 300sx in competition?

Thanks,

Perry

Tons of good airplanes out there for IMAC. You will see a tons of diff manufactures out there and alot of planes in the 35 to 40% Class. You will tend to see mostly 40% birds in the upper classes depending on the region, but you can definetly be competitive with a 35% Airplane. I dont think you can go wrong with the 260 or the 300.

PTS,

In the southwest region, the majority of the pilots fly 40%ers. There is no need however to do this unless you just want to. Any 35% plane is sufficient all the way through unlimited. At your altitude, the most important thing you can do is keep it light. Any 35% with a 100cc motor and weighs less than 26 lbs should be perfect. Some good choices are the new Dalton 260 the Carden 330 or 260. If you want an ARF check out the QQ 102" Yak. These are just my opinion of what I have seen fly well in IMAC.

The Comp ARF 2.6M Extras are a little on the fast side, this comes from their aerodynamically clean design.

I have been flying the 3M 260 for a while now and have built 2 others as well. IMO the 260 is as good as it gets. If you choose to get one drop me a line and I will give you some tips that will save you some time in the construction and tuning.

How do you guys think the Matt Chapman Cap would do in IMAC,, I have a BME 110xtreme I just purchased,, I am trying to keep the cost reasonable,, I was looking at the 33%-35% Aviation models on Chief Aircraft they are cheap now,,, but I was leaning for the Matt Chapman cap 33%,, because of the cheap replacement parts,,, I know that is probrably queer but it is important to me, I 3d alot and have been known to dork one up, I will be flying Alot of IMAC in 2007 along with the regular weekend 3ding,, what do you guys think

I think you would probably like one of the aviation models better, the way my cap flies percision is ok, but thats all it is is ok. But for 3D it's a machine. Im looking at the aviation models 35% yak right now, because I just don't feel satisfied with the freestyle performance of my cap, but thats just me.
