The Edge used to be the sought after plane. Now for what ever reason it has almost disappeard from IMAC. This might have something to do with manufacturers letting this design fade away. Any aerobatics capable plane that is built straight can be set up to fly IMAC well and the Edge is no exception.

I think it all has to do with what the guys that win the big contests are flying. We get this idea in our heads that the plane is a large part of what makes the pilot successful, when in fact it is simply what works for one individual. When QQ wins, everyone wants a Yak, When Leesburg won 300 sales pick up. If Chip wins everyone wants an ultimate, etc. etc.

You will not lose because you have an Edge.

You will not win because you have an Extra.

You will win or lose based on how well you understand the judging criteria, how much you practice, and how well you present those criteria to the judges.

In the end you can only fly as well as your skills allow you to, regardless of what plane you are flying (Edge or Extra).

Judge hit the nail on the head except for one thing. Make sure your airplane is set up for flying imac. I started imac with an edge this year and had a lot of trouble mainly due my flying skills. I got some help with my setup and it help me a lot with the way I flew. There a number of guys in the S.E. region flying edges and placing in the top three. All i can say is get the plane set up and learn the plane and practice. The guys that are great pilots they can fly a trash can lid and make it look good.

Probably Lanier, based on his user name (similar name on RCU has one). I need to finish my Lanier and get it in the air, too bad it's on the other side of the country now.

That was implicit in my point. A poorly set up #### will lose all day long to a properly set up ****.

If you do not have your plane set up correctly it just really doesn't matter what you are flying.

Yep the plane is a lanier and actually Falcons is the reason I got it . I will have the planes set up nose heavy because over all the planes I have flown I like nose heavey over tail heavy in any situation except 3d. I will probably not be doing much 3d because this plane is going to be dedicated to the comps. If I ever am to the point of doing a freestyle than I could probabley have the means to get a different plane. Btw here is what my setup will be using. I will have 3w or DA depending on what comes up in the used market when I have the money. I am hopeing a DA. I will have 2 hs 5955 on each wing two on the rudder and one on each elevatotor half. I will have duralite packs. A smartfly power regulator. I am not sure If I will use smoke or not. Also I think the new trend in planes is the 300 mid wing. One of the things that impressed me at the shootout was the wildhare. Anyways you guys are making this edge sound fine. Any other tips on mods I should do before finishing. Thanks again!
