Default RC League Yak54

Lets start a build / discussion thread on RC League Yak54
some times it is 28% and sometimes 30%
i hav'nt measured the span but the manual says it is 85"
I got mine directly from china by sending emails to
Mr JIanchun Lee his email address is league@rcleague.com.cn
I found him to be very nice, reliable and prompt. He is the guy who is runnig the show single handedly

I wanted to know the sizes of the box of the models i ordered and he send me this pic of him, which gave me an idea of how big the boxes were

I have not flown it as yet but i would tell you the detail once i get some more time

I am currently about 90% done building the "Genuity" color scheme verstion of this plane. So far the quality seems to be acceptable. Built straight and reasonably strong. It required some ironing to remove wrinkles in the covering, but don't they all. In line with most ARFs on the market, but slightly less than the premium brands. O.K for the price in my opinion.

I am building one with a DA-50 gas motor. I came by mine through Steve Neu of Neu electric motors. He brought back some from his last trip to China. Steve and another friend are doing electric versions. This should provide an interesting comparison of power choices, the best (OK opinion) gas motor against the best electric setup.

Mine came with the standard main gear. I strongly suggest if you get one of these planes you get the carbon fiber option. The standard gear are stupid heavy about 1 lb 10oz! The carbon gear are only 8oz. At this point i expect the plane to come in at about 16.5 pounds all up without gas.

I have found the published measurements to be wrong. They are different in every document that League has as well. The manual seems the closest. My plane has and 87" wingspan by my measurement and a length from front of cowl to tip of rudder of about 74". It is really about the size of most 30% YAKS I have seen. I estimate the wing area to be about 1480 sq inches. At the expected weight it should fly nice.

The Genuity scheme was a little busy for me so I removed some of the design covering and will add to my taste. I can post pictures if there is interest. I like the other scheme better.

I will say that I contacted Jianchun Lee to get the carbon gear. He has given timely responses to all my questions and has been a pleasure to work with. Not the typical Chinese experience I have read about. He does seem to understand customer service. His English is excellent making it easy to communicate.

I would like to hear from others who have this YAK and get flight reports if possible.

Are the wing tubes a metric size ? Are they available in CF from the manufacturer ?

Here we go, I don't need any more projects. That, however, never stopped me b4.
