I guess I should take a course in how to explain simple things using long winded scientific sounding explanations..

Awee bit-o- history--
almost 60 years ago -Jim Walker -(who invented more model flying gadgets that you can imagine) - made a pressure regulator (another demand type)- for control line models Istill have 1949 Air Trails and other mags with his ads showing th setup -on what appears to be a front intake engine with the rubber band pressurized tank
Also YS used for years -and still uses on most of their engines a demand reg to the carb - the fuel pressurized by crankcase pressure (6 psi)
this setup can be royal PITA if any crap gets into it --
It is NOT fuel injection

No Ralph. . that takes "Talent on loan from God"

Brushing up on your BS artist techniques might help, though.

Dick. . it's "Fuel Infarction" on the YS motors.

I started flying LC with a FireBaby. Great kit, great plane to learn on. Keep your fingers away from the .049 prop on cold mornings.

So Kris,
If I find a used 110 or 115 can I send it to you to have it gone through?

Whew !! I finally got through about six pages that somehow got posted since I last opened FG. I admit most of which was way past anything I EVER thought was something that the end user needed to know. The R&D you're doing here will be greatly appreciated down the road for well, anybody who is designing an engine. Personally I find it to be super interesting read and there are a few people in the modeling world that take it upon themselves to do this type of study. Us "end users" will definately benefit and who knows the engineers who put these engines on the market may pay attention too. Thanks for your work.

WHOA ! ! Since this is "work". . . hmm . .. . . . .
Okay. . most consulting firms charge hundreds of dollars per hour. . how much ya think I can milk out of FG?
Lessee.. . . .just in Hours of Labor. . 27 hours at $95/hour (I'm being REALLY nice here. . .) $2565
Parts: How much is Unobtanium worth these days? Oh hell, let's just tack on another grand. .

Seems FG owes me a cool $3565 so far for this "research"
I guess I'll let them off easy and accept a 5-year free subscription to the site. .

ACTUALLY. . this is all aimed toward starting a repair facility for specifically the BME line of engines. . I've been checking on things. Wonder how long the busniess licensing application takes to be approved

Welp. . got home late, no engien running tonight. . darnit ! !

did the dunk tank operation witht he motor at work, to see if there were any crankcase leaks. Taped up the exhaust ports and carburetor inlet, then blew air into the pump nipple on the back of the carburetor, which forces air directly into the crankcase and the rest of the motor.

No bubbles anywhere except from the throttle shaft of the carburetor, where there has to be some clearance so it can rotate. So the engine is nice and tight, just need to get it into the air to see how it runs. I was actually hoping for a small air leak somewhere that would have been the reason for the inconsistent idle, but no such luck. Oh well .. flip and fly, I say.

Kris,

I think what you are doing to try and solve these issues for 115 owners is great, and even though I own a 110 now, I for one will appreciate having an alternate location for repair help.

Thanks,
Greg

Well. if you ever need your 110 repaired, you know where I can be reached. . .

Any ideahow hard it is to find the proprietary reeds for the BME's??

I'm still looking for those. .found a Boyesen reed for the Honda 125 that looks a LOT like 115 reed setup. . two stage reeds, same shape housing, just no way to see what the actual dimensions are. gonna have to check on that one. .
