well to crappy out to fly so i did some more testing.i got the rite plug for it also,it took care of the miss it had and it went from 6840 to 7000 with the 23-8 mejzlik.thats a little better but i was hoping to see 7200-7300. the BPMR6A i couldn't find but it cross over to a RCJ7Y.i also shorten the header 1/2" at a time until i took out a total of 2" and no increase in RPM's at all, this is after the new plug.
i but on a 24-8 beila prop to see what shakes out to 6700,also no increase in RPM's as i shorten the header on this prop.maybe a longer header for this prop might get a few more R's.
i got a rich running at around 2000-3000 just at this rpm,i can lean the low end out so i get rid of it but it won't transition then, to lean.
i just need to fly this thing to see how it goes and get it well broke in. i also got a very little clockwise to counter clockwise play in the prop.

I don't understand what this means, would you elaborate a little?

soarrich, sorry should have made it more clear.it's the prop shaft that has a little backlash in it like you would have in a lose fitting set of gears.like you would have if the bearings on the connecting rod are bad at the crank pin. or the wrist pin in the piston or rod are lose.or a sloppy fitting ring in the piston grove.
i have the same thing in one of my da50's but it's be flying for the last six years.

Dan, This is a normal condition. You feel this at the extreme top and bottom of the stroke. You have to have some backlash.

well i found another prpblem, the ES composite pipe is falling apart on the inside.i had a MTW pipe already so i used it and went from 6700 on the Bolly 23-8 to 7150 on a 11" header.i got 6600 on the stock pitts with the Bolly.
also getting a rich running at 2000-3000 only,i can lean the low end out till it's gone but then it won't transition.also getting a little fuel spitting out carb and a little hard to start first run.mite have to look at the reeds.

Things certainly aren't looking good so far. Any word from Ralph's test pilot??

whats not looking so good.i am the only one saying anything about the engine you can't base much from one nube at gas.it's not the first engine that MITE need new reeds. i don't know till i look to see if they are sealing.as far as rpm's i think it's in the ball park with the rest of the china made engines?
but i don't know how guy's are getting 7000 on a 24-8,thats what i wanted to see. but i guess it all depends on the prop you are running. the Bolly prop loads most engines down pretty good so realy 7150 i don't think is to bad. all i got to do is get it from running rich from 2000-3000 thats it.
when i look at the reeds i may try to put on a carb from a 58gx2 if it fits to see what happens.

Did you try a velocity stack, I know on the MT62 that really helped.

If you think it's the reeds are leaking, you might want to take the reeds out and flip them over to see if they seal better. On another brand engine I once had a reed that was a little lazy flipping it cured the problem.

I did not have any problems with my engine so far, I changed the reeds out of personal preference, not need.

Seems there is lots of discussion about reeds across the sites... but only like 3 people talking about the engine.. I thought the first 2 shipments were sold out?

7150 on a pipe with a 23x8 bolly is pretty respectable.. its not the most powerful engine in it's class.. but it is pretty good bang for the buck. If you had a Mejzlik on their you would prob climb closer to 7300.

Now one is doing 7k with a 24x8 on a pipe.. it was 6600 or something?

What I don't understand is Ralph always quotes numbers from his shop.. however with this engine we are saying elevation might have something to do with numbers and sending it to a test pilot 6000' lower.

Not sure he's getting that. Not real clear in his explanation. If it's a 23X8 on a pipe at 7150 it's running like a 50cc. A 24X8 would be different. Most of the numbers I've seen so far put it at nearly the same power as a DL-50. I'm hoping someone gets one going right so we can see what it's really capable of. I think Rich is the only one having any luck so far but his numbers seemed low for an engine that should be closer to a 60 then a 50.

sinergy,
Yes, 2 shipments have completely SOLD OUT!!!! I am waiting for a 3rd shipment now. Right now I do not have any MT57 to deliver and I am taking
orders for the new shipment of 40 that is due in the next 7 days.

I guess not everyone that has bought the engines take the time to get involved in
talking about them.
