I use the 2-56 plastic ball swivels on both ends of my throttle rod. It's important that you keep you EI and everything associated with it at least 12" from your Rx and everything else. You can use a metal throttle rod (I do) but both ends that connect to the servo and throttle arm have to be plastic. No metal to metal. What prop are you running and what rpms are you getting? Do you have the right oil?? Just asking because you said it was your first gasser.

"I was using the short throttle arm and asked Larry what people were using for the throttle arm extension but I need to be reminded, what do I need to buy to put on the throttle arm to hook the servo to? Thanks for the help." Darrol, You need to get a Dubro plastic steering arm. Take a dremel tool and grind of the a little of the shaft to get the small arm off. Install the steering arm in its place. Use a 2 56 ball link as the linkage with golden rod to the servo. this way you will not set up any funny's with the RF. Thanks for posting. Larry LS PRO ENGINES AIRBORNE RANGER |

did some playing around with props today on the 57 with a MTW pipe and 11" header, with 1.5 gallon of fuel through it. idle is very smooth, transition is fast. starts easy now that i change the carb that i had from a 58gx2. i had a running rich from 2000-3000 that i couldn't tune out on the stock carb. my home made Mylar reeds didn't last long,i put the stock reeds back in.engine runs great now pulls a 17.5 plane like a rag doll.i didn't tune the header yet for length so this may change a little.to bad these numbers aren't with a stock pitts muffler. Well guys, been on vacation for 2 weeks and was expecting some flight feedback from the other side of the pond. But instead you seem to be bogged down in general chitter chatter ![]() Installed one of the new 57s,in another Yak 88 2 day.12" header-KS1060 pipe and sod running in,went straight onto Amsoil at 100-1 mix .Flew the pants of it 2day with no hiccups and now hall sensor adjustments.1 3/4 on the low end and 1 1/2 on the high end with a 24x8 zdz prop.getting 6500rpm peak but with 1/2" to come off the header when iv run a couple of gallons through she should be turning 6700-7000 quite sweat.![]() Why has no one over there given any test air flight reports as such yet |

They have but so far the readings they are getting are about the same as a DL-50 or less.

Joe,glad to hear another report on this engine, seems that we are getting almost the same numbers. Larry said he was going to tell Tommy about the timing being a little off.so that must have been takeing care of.you no i didn't get anymore RPM's when i went from 14* to 28* degrees BTDC,just throttle response was better. engine is running great! |

I hear what your saying, but something seems very wrong with the numbers some of you are getting,is it fuel-altitude or incorrectly holding the tach meter .It can happen.Im gonna get a another video of the new production version 57 flyin in my Red n White, hopefully this week end,so ill post as soon as .I must admit that the longer standoffs provided, lend themselves very well the the EF Yak,they give good prop clearance by about 1 1/2'' from the cowl. This utilisers as much of the prop as possible.Have a feeling there may be a twin in the pipeline at some point, which would be begging for 110'' ,oh dear,id better get saving.I know Tommy follows these threads with intrest and im sure hes in the game to stay,so these engines can only get better with time and more feedback. Anyways,Hows about Team MT USA and Team MT UK,these need promoting at the shows as well ![]() ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||

That's way too much to lose to a muffler, I can see why there was doubt about my numbers. The 33 pound thrust video is coming, blowing 20 mph, I can't do it at home and I didn't want to drive for an hour just for the video. I put my second MT57 on Larry's test stand and it turned 6800 out of the box. If the second one runs like the first I 'll be happy, because I use headers normally, and get great power. I've only flown the plane with the stock muffler, it doesn't have a can tunnel, so when I put the 57 in my 94" Lanier Extra it'll have the header, canister, still weigh 22 pounds, but will have 400 square inches more of wing, 4~500 more rpm. I don't like flying the Lanier 87" Yak that my MT 57 is in, I got it from a guy that said it was too heavy to hover with a DA50, that's no longer a problem, but it does fly very heavy compared to my WH Sukhoi or my SD 260 Extra, that's the plane not the engine's fault. It's good to hear you're going to do more test, I'm not sure what the prop you use is like, but I remember really big numbers, so big that when I did my test Larry wasn't happy with my numbers, and they where way higher than the guys with stock mufflers are reporting. I've bought a set of NX test props 20-24x8 so I'm not testing with a hodgepodge of props. I'd like to do enough test to get a power curve for all my engines, my arm is getting better and I think the weather should break soon so I can do that.
