I don't like flying the Lanier 87" Yak that my MT 57 is in, I got it from a guy that said it was too heavy to hover with a DA50, that's no longer a problem, but it does fly very heavy compared to my WH Sukhoi or my SD 260 Extra, that's the plane not the engine's fault.
I'll be curious to hear how the 94" Lanier Extra does with the MT-57 (seems a bit small for that plane).

I have both the 94" Lanier Extra and Edge, but I plan to use 3W-75 and 80's on them myself. From the build threads, it sounds like most guys are going with ZDZ-80's or DA-85's............

That's an excellent point as I'm sure folks are looking at this engine as providing the power of a 60cc. Certainly not an 80 but enough to fly an 80 plane. With the right pipe it may actually be doing that but that remains to be tested. Evidently Mr. Barrington is having a lot more success with the same engine but is running a tuned pipe. Rich says the stock muffler is way too restrictive. That would certainly explain the vast differences in the numbers reported. If Larry is going to supply the engine with a tuned pipe and muffler it would certainly be a great deal.

Quote:
we will make it better until it is the best 50cc size
engine on the market. We will soon be releasing a header pipe and performance canister as a option when purchasing our engine and it will be reasonably priced.
We are doing this because many of our customers have asked for it.
Still waiting to hear from Rich and Ralph though. Larry, Do you carry the MT-50 as well as the entire MT line?

I have both the 94" Lanier Extra and Edge, ..
I've got both too, $299 and $349 where just too good to let go by. I thought I'd do the Extra super light, and maybe put a **80cc in the Edge. I read where guys where flying 100cc planes with with the DA 85, the saving in weight let them get by with a smaller engine, the Extra seems the lighter of the two. These planes are supposed to weigh 21 1/2 pounds that's about what my Yak weighs, what a stone, so if I can get it to balance by putting all the servos up front so I don't have to add ballast, and use my A123 packs to help keep it light, I think it's doable. Plenty of room for a tuned pipe. Now if the weather would cooperate I could get my video in, if it's not raining it's blowing 20 mph, tomorrow looks OK 10 mph's, not too bad.

Glad to hear you're doing better Rich. I wouldn't sweat it if the weather's bad buddy. There's always the weekend. Besides, I'd hate to have your arm go out trying to flip a prop. Better to give it a couple days and let things heal and the weather improve. These guys have waited this long. Sounds like you have a plan with that bird. My DL has unlimited vertical with a 18.5 pound take-off weight and I really don't think 2.5 more pounds would hurt it. If you've got this thing on a pipe with a 24 inch prop you should be golden. At any rate, keep us informed.

BTW Rich, we're having a membership drive at the Hard Man's Club. Why don't you jump onto the thread and join us buddy?? We'd be proud to have you!!

How hard man do. Yeaaah. Video responses here.

You get an award and a free Flying Giants DVD.

Larry, Do you carry the MT-50 as well as the entire MT line?

Al,
Yes, we carry the complete line of MT Engines By Tomy Shen. The MT42, MT50, MT57 and the MT62.

We are coming out with a line of MT props that will equal the Zoar but at a cheaper
price tag.

Also a header, teflon coupler and canister for our engines. Richie is testing the can as I gave him the proto type today.

We are the first engine out of the orient to offer that as a option with there engine.

Tomy Shen is here for the long run and is trying to do it right, and thats why I have gone with him as the sole importer of his line. He will do what is nessesary to make it right, and he is listening to both Ralph and myself.

Not true, I've had canister kits for the TOC-53 for months.

Sorry Tom, I stand corrected. But is it made by the 3mm company??? Not that it would make a difference.

I heard by the grape line that you had a medical problem, hope all is well!!!!!

They had to yank out my appendix Sunday morning.

Our headers are made in Germany by K&S or MTW, not sure which.

well i have been flying the nuts off the EF yak with the 57 in it.the engine must be getting broke in now because i am getting 7550 on a 23-A Vess,so 7000 on a 24-8 is possible i think?the engine has been running great also and so smooth and slow at idle, still running pennzoil at 32-1.the plug is a little on the dark side so i can lean it out a little more.it starts with two primers and one ignition, and one flip the rest of the day.
i have been having so much fun with it that i broke the wing tube today doing walls, the third one is what did it. all i heard was a crack at the top of the wall then i new it was time to give it up.but i manage to get it back on the ground with out anymore damage to the plane.
one nice engine i would buy another.
