| Doo It! Doo It! ![]() | Larry ,thanks for clearing this up,you can only believe about half of what you read on the net. now with that being said it's good flying weather and work is SLOW, i am going flying.this will be the first tank of 50:1 Belray after three gals. of pennzoil 32:1 and going to try a Beila 24-8,just like to see how the engine handles a larger prop.i have a 58gx2 with the same header and MTW pipe it gets 7550 on the Beila. seams like there is always someone stirring the pot,and not the kind you smoke for relief. |

| Gettin' Lower! ![]() | Dan, You got that right. If he owns the engine he got it in Canada. The guys that bought from me or one of my dealers can talk to me anytime. If you need any help at any time just drop me a e mail. Or call Ralph Cunningham, he will be able to answer any and all questions from OUR CUSTOMERS. Thats what he gets paid to do.. I think the engine will like the big prop. RPM will drop some but it will pull like a mule. Let me know!!!! Larry LS PRO ENGINES AIRBORNE RANGER |

| Gettin' Lower! ![]() | Closetguy: I simply asked a question ![]() No one can get the numbers you all are reporting! I do understand why you would get defensive Larry. Someone brings honest #'s to the table from the first production run and it could be damaging, sorry I hit a nerve, I did not realize how far this all goes! I will run my engine as a 50 and accept the fact it is just average ! Enjoy! |

| Doo It! Doo It! ![]() | Hughes, you got to remember that i am using a MTW pipe,it brought the numbers up about 550 rpm's.and really i didn't get much over 7000 on a 23-8 Mejzlik ,untill i went with the Vess 23-A and got 7550.seems they always spin faster than the rest and gives strong pull out.also i thought you were stating a fact and not asking a question and new something that i didn't know,my mistake. now for the big disappointment of the day.i still had a full tank of 32:1 pennzoil (87 octane)so i thought i would compare the two props on the same mixture, before going to 94 octane fuel and Bel-Ray at 50:1. Vess 23-A 7550,Beila 24-8 6350 this was after letting the engine warm up on the ground 4-5 minutes, not after flying. it seems to me i always get a little higher numbers rite after flying it.and the engine was almost to hot to touch after shutting it down rite after i tach it. it was working to hard i guess or it may have been to hot outside, 80 degrees today. i really did't expect such a drop i thought i would get 6700-7000. any ways it's back to the 23-A. some where i saw a video of a guy showing a tach at 7000 with a 24-8 on a ES pipe with the 57, it was in a black&yellow EF yak. |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | I have a DA50R and it only has one ring . I know cause I just ordered a replacement yesterday after breaking it trying to get it off to clean the carbon out of the exhaust side of the ring groove. But anyway this thread is not about the DA so an MT57 and an MT57cn are the same exact engine? So they are being marketed as a 3d engine? For the purpose of desing the MT-57CN. this engine are especial for 3D fly . so long stroke , mid size bore are the idea. depend on the long stroke. more troque at the low rpm can bring fast transaction. if for the sports fly , you need speed . so big pitch are recommand , like 22-10 or 22-12 . and for the 3D fly. 23 or even 24 size prop with low pitch like 8 or even 7.5 are good for your action . I always adjust the H needle little rich and same as L needle . and for the timming . 32 to 35 degree advance are ok for small size prop like 22-8 , so you can get more than 7000 rpm . and for the big size prop like 23-8 or 24-8 , 28 degree advance timming are recommend. in China , the humidity are quite high then North America. I got 6500 rpm with JXF 24-8 prop and stock muffler. I believe you can get more in USA or Canada . and for the 3D fly with 23 or 24 size prop. L needle need little rich . so you can feel the transition fast . sorry I have no experience with tuned pipe . pe reivers from MVVS.nl have lot of experience with that , I learn lot from his post . Thank you Attached Thumbnails ![]()

| Gettin' Lower! ![]() | I read through this whole thread and wow has it been some ride. I just picked up one of these bad boys from Thunderbolt RC. I'm sure these growing pains will go away with time. The bottom line the way I see it, is that it's a quality built engine that had a little hick-up. I have 2 DL's (version 2) and all the issues haven't been worked out with them either. Both of mine have the loose spark plug hole problem. Does it effect how they run, no. Will it effect the long term life of the threads in the plug hole, my guess is probably. So down the road some time after I have had zoodles of flights I may have to replace the cylinder if I don't break it in a crash or something first. I look at the MT57 the same way. Now that the timing issue has been found and corrected I don't see any real problems with this engine. Especially the way Larry is having them inspected and prepped with new plugs before they are sent out. As for power I love my DL's but I can't see them swinging a 23x8 the way this engine can. I am looking forward to its arrival and I am going to get started on the plane it is going into, once I get off the computer. I'll put my engine on it and fly the Devil out of it and have a great time not worrying a bit if it is turning 7100 or 7500. But thats me, each user is different and your milage may vary. ![]() |
