Plus I have never been a "3D" pilot but this season would like to try my hand at harriers just so I can get to the slow rolling harrier. AND I need all the help I can get!

I was kinda hoping that I could put this one on a 17-18lb. plane and put the DL on a fifteen pound plane I also have. I like the price tag and hope it proves out, I'm pretty sure it will.

I'm trying to figure out why it is any better than a "lightened" G-62. I guess I compare all the "new" engines to Zenoah, Quadra and Sachs. A pound or less in weight for wing loading only does not always make enough differance? When a trade off in power is part of the price ?

COST is why !!
I'd prefer the MT over the lightened G-62. the MT-57 is lighter, and one big plus is the rear carb with reeds. Much easier throttle and choke setup, and no blowback of fuel because it has reeds. One thing I notice a lot with the side carb engines (not the G-62 in particular because I have never seen one) is that they tend to have problems with air hitting the metering diaphram, causing preasure problems and subsequent flameouts. I had a 3MM that did this.

Gonna be VERY interesting...RC Ignition is Larry's service center and a dealer...
Nice to have a choice between the G62 lite side carb and the MT57 rear carb...Performance is close...
And the best 26cc engine, the G26, converted with RC EXL ignition...
I also mport RC EXL ignitions direct from China...
Looks like my website needs a MAJOR makeover.....
FWIW, MY conversions have a carb rotator that gives a straight shot to the throttle servo..What's easier ??

Now thats the best comment I have seen in this thread... actually the 2nd best. I will leave the first one alone because it doesn't deserve attention haha.

I do have a serious question though Mr. Ralph. Are you going to run the 57 against the beloved G-62 or have you already?

I want to know flat out which is stronger... I am curious.

I haven't even SEEN a 57 yet, but it will probably be a little stronger, based on Tomy and Rich Border's numbers...The DL was a little stronger with the same prop....
Soon as I get a 57 I will dissect it and test some props...

Me too. I know Ralph will give an honest review. Just to throw out a number, my G62 light turns a Mejz 22x10 at 7400.

That's a good number. I gotta get a Menz prop or two to try on the DL just so I have personal experience for comparison purposes. In fact, I need to get all kinds of props because one of these days I'm gonna get off my wallet and send one of the G-62's to Ralph.

I'm in need of (again) personal experience with both side by sid to know where things really are with all the 50cc class engines. I'm aware that I as well as most now consider 60cc (old school) in the same class as the "new" 50cc engines.

SEND RALPH a engine !! We are all waiting on his review !!

I just purchased one of these today for an SD models 30% extra. I know it is still new and nobody knows much but what prop should I start with? 22x8 or 23x8? Also what voltage does the ignition need? 4.8 or 6? Hope this engine lives up to at least some of the hype.

For the ignition no need to go over 4.8. As for the prop, if this thing has the poop people are saying, go with the 23x8. The 22x8 will be a little small unless it is one of the thicker heavier loading manufacturers props.

I have a SD 260 30%er, it's a very clean airplane, much more so that a Yak 54, after the test I did with my MT57 I'd go with the 23x8 or 23a.

I found the stock LG where a little soft, so with a 23 incher you'll want to grease it in. I found that if I slow it down to land it just keeps raising the nose and slowing with the aft CG I'm using. I've got a 9C Futaba and found that I put idle down at 3 on the e switch and mix 5 with throttle to elevator with a 3 also on the e switch it lands very well now. The idle down slows the engine about 150 rpm, and the mix puts in just a little down that it needs to not keep slowing. Mine has a MT62 in it.
