Hi John, Has anybody tried to move the rudder servo to the tail of the 50cc Yak? I've inspected the tail area near the elevator servo holes and it looks like I can fit the rudder servo in the tail directly under one of the elevator servos. Is there any reason, that you could think of, why I shouldn't do this, such as, making that section of the tail too weak? It looks strong enough to me, but it's your design, you would know the load capabilities much better than I would. My reason for doing this is I need to use this servo to help in the balancing of the airplane. The engine I will be installing is 12.5 oz. heavier than a DA-50 with a can.

I wouldn't recommend having one servo in the tail pushing and pulling in a GS aircraft. Either it's two in the back doing push-pull or one inside pull-pull. I'm pretty sure its a bad idea to have only one servo in the tail...

The reason I ask is, I used that same set-up in my Lanier 87", but their was a cutout for the rudder servo, I just had to remove the covering. The servo I will be using is a Hitec 5955, plenty of power.

You can make a good rear servo rudder install by placing it under the rear portion of the tail . Rear monted pull pull with short cables or push rods.

My thoughts are to use through bolts on the rudder horn to a plate on the other side for stability. I will also strengthen the cutout with bracing to the opposite side of the fuse.
