This is the motor mount I use. A simple home made back plate mount, as designed by Jerry Smith himself. Easy to make, and works great! Also keeps the engine really close to the firewall, and helps avoid a nose heavy situation. You just cut out a back plate from sheet aluminum, and duplicate that with an 1/8th piece of ply. The ply serves as a spacer to give clearance for the engine back plate bolts.
I'm working up a mock version of this now, and having a machine shop mill out a single piece unit. If all goes well, they should be available to anyone wanting one.
The ARF will include a nylon beam style motor mount, and that will work out fine also. Just a matter of preference.

Hey Larry, what kind of servos do the RDRC crew use in their Outlaws, as far as mini or regular sized?
Thanks

If anyone is interested, I'll do a quick little build session on one. Buddy of mine needs one now, and I could just shoot a few pics while I do it.
I would like to see a muffler build thread...

Hey Wes! Most of us are using the higher torque servo's, Hitec, JR, and Futaba 80oz and up. Actually, I still use the older JR 4721's. ( had a bucket full of them, and they work great) Outlaws can be flown using lower torque servo's in the 60oz range, and will do fine so far as loops, rolls etc. But if you want to get the most out of it, you'll need some "Umph" ! These planes are well worth spending the $$$ on good servo's. You dont want servo's stalling on you in tight pull outs. (remember the hard square loops right on the deck?)
You already have the radio bud,,,so get on that waiting list for the airframe!

HECK YEAH Lil Sista!
Talk about turning some heads and raising eyebrows on the flight line!! We get a couple of RDRC Gals burning the sky up with Outlaws, and it WOULD be a "3 Ring Circus"!!

I used the JR sport 125mg servos with a Hitec HS-81 on throttle. The sport servos aren't digital but seem to stay centered well and have plenty of torque for the insane maneuvers this thing can do!
