Im safe from the lightning bolts--Im not using a PE--just a 9100

Picked it up today.

It actually comes with a printed manual. My X9303 didn't even come with a printed manual.

The switch is wired to connect the signal and negative wires. It looks like you can just trim the futaba tab off the connector and plug a smart-fly pin/flag lead in. The pin/flag on my Fromeco Arizona Reg is wired different. Another option would be to use an extension and the bind plug. I prefer not to use a slide switch because I witnessed one vibrate off on a 33% H9 Edge.

If you look up this reciever on Airwild it shows a few different applications for power expanders and regulators. My question here is they dont show having to use a soft switch with the single regulator applicatation? Do we have to use the switch supplied? The instructions say we do need to use it!

No you can use any switch--what they mean is that if you use a regular switch like a JR DSC instead of the included soft switch, you wont get the failsafe feature. You could use any failsafe switch though like a Badger or Wolverine.

With the 9100, because the included switch is "Fail ON", you can just ignore the included switch. I think my favorite setup would be as follows.

9100 RX

Four remote RXs

Data logger port wired to the fuse so I can check the data without removing the canopy.

Not use the included switch. Keep in mind that the 9100 included fail on switch draws a little power even when off, so you would need to disconnect it after flying. Also there is no way to charge the batteries through the switch, so you have to either wire up a charge harness, or disconnect to charge.

Option 'A': Two A123 style batteries running through the new Fromeco A123 switches. This will allow you to charge through the switches, tracks battery usage, have no Regulators, and never need to disconnect the batteries. All done with HD wire, and Deans connectors. This is a simple, powerful, safe setup.

Option 'B': Two Fromeco LiOn batteries, running through two separate SmartFly regs (better than a SuperReg, because it provides true redundancy), through a single Fromeco Wolverine Switch. This has the advantage of full redundancy, battery balancing, external charging, voltage checking, and a single hole in the fuse. Again, all done with HD wire and Deans connectors. This setup has proven very reliable for me in the past, and I already have the needed chargers etc..

I believe all the "Soft Switches" do, the Wolverine does not, and I don't think the new Fromeco A123 switches do either, but I have not tried them yet.

The new Kodiak switches do draw power when off, but it is very little. It would probably take a year to drain a battery.

In my 35% Carden I have 2 fromco lion batteries going to a Turbo Regulator. Then I run power to both matchboxes from 1 port and the other port goes to the reciever. Can I just use 1 of the power inputs to the 9100 in this case are do i need to gang wire the 2 together?
