Are they the same size as the Futaba 5050. I'm curious because I'm thinking about options for powering the Rudder on Bob's LW 55% / AeroTech Extra 260. My options are:

Well the 7990th are only 10% bigger according to Mike. So if you were to sand the insides of the servo box walls installed in the plane i would think they would fit. If it was my new 55% I would go for the durant direct drive.

The 5050's are similar in size to our 7945 which are now pretty much delegated for 1:5th cars. We also have the new 5805MG which is even bigger. The 7990 is just slightly larger than the current "standard" size servos but still offers over twice the torque of the big servos that are twice the weight. Mike, |

Magnetic encoder modules offer non-contact alternative to potentiometers. A picture of one is attached, not the same one used for servos, but basic principle. Cool stuff Hitec!!!

I got a chance to talk with Hitec at this years government UAV conference in Washington DC and learned about the magnetic encoders but assumed they were just for high end robotic applications. Great job Hitec on bringing this new technology to the hobby world! no more potentiometer wear!

| Mike, Please! Is there any kind of estimated release date for this bad boy - HS-7990TH? And one for the Hitec suggestion box… Since a lot of us are now running 7.4v Unregulated Two cell LiPo systems and, it looks like it’s all headed that way. I would like to see a relatively low cost, Low to Medium Torque, Digital, High Volt Servo to operate Throttle, Choke and other applications that do not require a massive servo. It’s kind of a bummer to have to regulate part of your system or have to equip your Throttle & Choke with $100.00+ Servos. Any Thoughts? Thanks! Paul…
