Guys, About four years ago, there was a picture and a blurb in Japanese (On JR's website out of Japan) about a new 12X radio. It didn't look like this new 12X, 2.4 thing that will hit the market later this year.It looked like a 10X with a few more switches and a label bearing a 12X badge. One of the pictures depicted a transmitter sitting on a table along with a "JR" RX that had 12 servos plugged into it. The transmitter had a DSC connected from the TX to the charge jack of the RX. The purpose was to show that the TX touch screen was changing the RX frequency WITHOUT having to go into the plane to push a button or set any rotary dials. My guess (and this IS a guess!) is that the new 12X 2.4 is coming out like Futaba now has their 12 Channel radio on both 2.4 and 72 Mhz. My other guess is that JR will probably combat the Futaba 14 whoopty-do radio with a 14X of their own with some sort of frequency changing gizmo on 72 mhz as well as a 2.4 version. Let's face it...... 2.4 mhz just ain't for everyone! I'm still sticking with 72mhz until the super techno geek at my field reports that he HASN"T locked up, froze out or crashed for months on end! (I'll also swear by a 2.4 version when all us Flying Giants start saying, "Remember when 2.4 came out years ago and everybody was crashing like crazy??" "Now that Krypto-fran-a-toic radios came out back in 2047, I just put on my laser eyeglass diopters and just fly the hell out of Grandpa Somenzini's old Python!!" Reporting from the future....... lol, grandpa somenzini, thats great. Those pics you saw were from around 4 years ago you said? You have to remember ALOT has changed since 4 years ago. If someone were to mention 2.4 ghz, not one of us would be able to tell you what its all about. What you saw may have just been a design concept and may OR may not make it to a production model.

I agree with you...... May or may not make it to production. That "may or may not" is still an option they MIGHT exercise! At least I saw a picture of it and it wasn't a figment of my imagination! It was on the website for all of a nanosecond. When I went to pull it up for my buddies, I got the "can't find the URL" thingy. You also have to think that it takes a LONG time to come up with a design and then a functional model. After that, they tease us with it for eons, then they market it in the magazines promising it to arrive a certain month of the year and then it gets pushed back a few more months while they ramp up units. Then, after all is said and done, you settled on a whole different radio, motor or plane. You heard this story before? Oh well.......... WT | ||||||||||||||||||

Saw a post from a JR distributor in the UK over on "another" forum talking about the 12X. Seems it's been delayed as Horizon has stipulated that it be available in a 72MHz version as well as the 2.4 which is all it was originally supposed to have. According to this gentleman, Horizon had made this change due to customer demand. Since this has kicked back the release due to the change (they weren't even through with the 2.4 stuff) there's nothing I've been able to find about a date, nor whether or not it will be a module type deal such as Futaba is going to use where you can go from one band to another, native such that the band can be selected, or if you have to pick one or the other. I've got an X9303 coming but have been trying to keep up on where the 12X might be and the above is all I've been able to find... |
