Dan, they cannot list a product from Horizon for less than the MAP (minimum advertised price I think), but they can sell them for less, just cannot list them for less.

It's no secret that the more the LHS buys the better the price they'll get. With that said last time I got 8611a we got a large group together and ordered almost sixty at the time and need less to say we got a price that was a lot lower than I've ever seen anywhere. The hobby shop probably made the same or less per servo than selling them at regular price but of course made a higher total because the amount of servos.

That is odd. I talked to the Horizon marketing sales rep yesterday and they said they are not out yet. I wanted to get one to go on my rudder of my Yak to try out. I will have to call again and see what's up.

It appears that Horizon, although they "compete" with their dealers by having a mail order option, still makes an effort to support traditional supply systems. They are filling up the hobby shops first before they start to let them out directly through mail order. I respect this because it gives the LHS a chance to profit from new items coming in.

Heck, even my local Hobby Town had two on the shelf a few days ago. Same price as Horizon, but if I wanted them they were there.

I am good friends with my LHS owner and he does not get them for $60.00, not even close to that low.

The LHS cannot sell the number of say 8711's that a mail order place does. So for them to stock say 30 servos would be much more costly for them. My LHS will special order items like this and typically match the mail order specials as long as I buy a few. Sure I like to save money like everyone but more and more hobby shops are closing. I don't want to have to mail order covering, fuel tubing, small parts, etc etc etc, so I support the LHS on big ticket items whenever possible. Ask them to match the mail order price before you right them off....

I ordered 14 of these for my Hempel Edge, but got tired of waiting and used 8611's. Forgot to cancel the order and they showed up today. I would love to sell them if anyone is interested. Make me a fair offer via PM if interested. Craig
