i ran 8411 on mine and 8611 on the rudder for about 20 flights. I pulled the ailerons servo off a few weeks and installed some 5955 that i picked up on that servocity sale.....

Allot of guys have used 5955 on rudder and 5985 everywhere else.
That is my set up. No doubt in this hobby the more money you throw at a set up the better it can get- so 5955 all around would probably be the best - that is if you are a Hitec supporter.

I'm trying to keep the price lower so I was thinking these...

Rudder:
Hobbico CS-80 2BB
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLN93&P=0

Ali's and Elev's:
Hobbico CS-73 2BB ¼ Scale
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHHV8&P=0

I'll just use some standard 44 oz. on the kill and throttle.

Are you running ggas or glow? Also waht plane. I would never use a plastic gear servo on any gas plane. I leaned that one the hard way.

Check out the replacement parts guy. Plastic gears??- in this size plane is a KILLER choice. Not possibly terminal - but a SURE THING. I have seen the flutter of stripped gears only 20 or so feet off the ground on take off- brand new freakin' plane too- just like yours will be - but not for long.

I'm no expert so I play the due diligence game. Internet is full of great information and mis-information. It is easy to read around the message boards and learn what REALLY is working. I recommend you do the same before you trust your $2000 investment on $28.00 servos. ( I found you a hellofa better deal too)

IMO- Put off the maiden flight and save up for the tried and true and BRAGGED on servos. Your whole plane depends on EACH ONE of them . If only ONE fails- and you are cave diving with the wrong batteries!
What could possibly suck any worse than that?
I an a thrifty purchaser ( to put a real positive spin on things) but one thing I have learned about prices- Sometimes you get what you pay for -sometimes you get less. At $28.00 you really "Ain't Got Much" , so choose wisely when price is the primary focus!

These servos, belong in a RC Tug Boat - IMHO.

My EF 88" has 8711's on all surfaces,A bit overkill but im happy with that. I wanted the best servos i could afford for it-use cheap servoes and youll pay the price in the end

I learned the hard way myself. I used Futaba plastic gear servos. more expensive than $28, but it did not matter. First flight I got flutter and stripped them. No ailerons, no control. Metal gear is the only way to go on a plane this size. I wish I would have asked first, but I was in a hurry to fly it. Plastic gears are for 40-60 sized planes. No matter what the torq rating. I can not figure out why they would even build a servo like that. Put metal gears in it and charge $15 more.

I believe so. The first gear has the least ammount of stress because of all of the gearing. I don't think they are all like that. I believe the 5955 is all metal.

My point is, I was trying to save the guy a little trouble by letting him know that he'll most likely run into problems. I'm not trying to say that DAs are bad. My 50r runs great when I'm not doing an inverted harrier, I've just learned to accept that it can't do it. My DA 150 runs great, along with their 100s that I've flown. Its not a uncommon thing, every DA 50 in a YAK has run like mine. I seen a AW 260 with a 50r do great inverted. I think this is because of the cowl opening.

To add credit or proof of what I'm saying, here's a vid of an EF yak almost eating it because of the fact that DA 50s load up only at low throttle settings inverted. Also, you can see that it runs great in all other attitudes JUST like mine. If you just flip the carb, it leans out instead, which is much worse.

Mike - Not only are you have a pretty damn good flier, but you can dish up a pretty disgusting side order of "Humble Pie" to boot.

Though I see no need to recall or revise my previous position regarding the demeanor and experience of some negative statements, ("You can't go wrong with either, just don't get a DA 50 for it") , IMO- you have utilized the internet video mediums masterfully, by posting the actual loading up event in all it's dimensions. That truly was a close call.
Might have been a good day for LOTTERY ticket too?

I hear the sluggish-ness you refer to and note also it only occured in your video while in a sustained inverted orientation. Now maybe DA can scrutinize this "event" and take their bull by the horns and help with this very troublesome situation. Good job - substantiating your claim!

Maybe you should post on the DA Manufacturer's Announcements area? Please PM me if you do, as I'd like to follow their support on this. I now have 2 DA50's and have a stake in their solution too.

Now, Please do pardon me please while I use both hands to wipe my chin. I find the dish - though prepared well, it's still a bit difficult to keep behind the lips.
Bon appétit
