Hey Chris, Good meeting you too dude. I don't know which I'm more impressed with; your planes, your flying, or your guitar playing lol.

They are both great aircraft, whichever one makes you look twice is the one to get....IMHO

I saw a QQ Yak with DA50 Deadstick in the hover at 20ft at weston park show a few weeks ago. The plane went in rudder first n pushed the tail feathers up into the canopy. Ive had the same happen with my EF yak and it bounced off of the rudder n landed itself . Just a slighty bent undercarrage. Freshness A pal of mine bought the qq 50cc and im sure he wishes he bought the EF 88". Plus that new QQ scheme looks a tad PINK for my taste? | ||||||||||||||||||

I don't own a QQ yak, but i do have the origional 87'' EF yak and also the new 88'' EF yak. I don't care for the 88'' at all, I'll probably put it on the shelf and fly my 87'' for the rest of the summer. I think Chris went too far with the width of the fusalage, and not enough propwash gets past the cowl. To me the 88'' flys like a blimp. I'm not looking to offend anybody, just telling you what I have experienced.

I also did a Takeoff to Hover Deadstick at maybe 40 ft. Bubble from a large filter got me...88" EF Yak...got it flat..just in time...bent the gear, tore up the gear mount stringers a bit.....but from catching the wheels in soft mud. Super Tough frame...any other plane would have been toast. I have only flown my 72" QQ....I just like my 47" ,68", 87", and 88 " EF's a lot more. The 72 has been for sale for a season and half. It flies nice, but it collects dust. |

Ive flown the 88" with Da50 on a slimline muffler and the power is defo not as good as my buddies with a cannister. I flew the 88" on my DA with a 24/8 and it was twice the plane it was with a 23/8.However the DA diddnt like the 24" and quickly turned a shocking shade of pink after 2 flights . so had to go back to the 23/8 and felt a bit gutted i couldnt throw a 24". I now have a MVVS 58 in it with a cannister throwing a 24/10 and its seriously awsome. As the Ef song says( bigs props are best) it defo is so true. As you've noticed -the cowl is a bit large so the bigger prop you can throw the better. The QQ has more pullout with a standard Da an slimline muffler.but after flying the 88" with the MVVS 58. nothing comes close to how locked it it feels and still has monster power for giving it serious beans. You must be down on power to think the 88" Is a blimp . Go get some Beans Bro you'll be a happy hucker with the biggest prop as you can swing on it.

I have had the Extreme Flight 88" for a couple of weeks now and I cannot imagine that a more stable (for 3D) airplane is possible. I have had several large airplanes up to 35% and I have not owned one that floats and is as stable as this plane in high alpha inverted and upright. I had a 35% Extra 260 and it was INCREDIBLE but this plane is even more forgiving. Its nearly impossible to stall for me. What surprised me was that on the 3rd flight I was comfortable puttering around in very small area just a few feet off of the ground in an inverted harrier, which is something that I have never done before with a large plane. I have done it with foamies for a long time. The plane is just easy to fly and it behaves almost like its neutrally bouyant. Its a lot of fun to fly. Something else I like is the way it snaps. You can stop it on a dime as long as you dont overdo the rudder. Also, I am flying it with the Evolution 45gx2 and I really REALLY like the engine. There is an issue that we figured out though, the engine comes from the factory setup for the engine to be installed upright. If you are going to install the engine inverted you need to pull the backplate and rotate it 180 degrees so that the fuel flows into the carburetor during starting. If you do not and the carb is tilted away from the engine, it can be extremly hard to crank. |
