This one time at band camp..... I did an inverted pass with my Dirty Birdy, got too low, hooked the fin diving the nose into the ground. Knocked the motor off and it pops back up into the air about 20 feet. I roll it right side up and do an aunt jemima. The plane sittin on the runway just fine with the motor about 100 feet behind it. New nylon beam mount and all was well.

And this is what I get for showing off. I would like to point out that there are "TWO" scuff marks on the rudder. The original is on the trailing end of the top side......that was the one that I got away with. The big one on the top leading edge is the one that stopped the plane inverted on the runway, broke the fuse, prop, cowl and canopy!!!

Here's photos of the plane hanging on the wall and a closeup of the scuff on the vertical tail. We fly from black top, hence the black smear in front of the bare balsa. The scuff is about four or five inches long.

I don't know when they stopped making the 30% extra. I bought mine from the widow of a guy who died in another club here in town. Got a very good deal, it was framed, with engine and all the add-on's. I only had to finish the assembly, cover, and install radio and engine.

She's a pre-3D era bird.... but flies IMAC like a beauty. Even with the smaller tail surfaces, I can throw it around a bit, but the engine is a little undersize for 3D.... It's a D&B 3.7

I got smoke in it too. It won't hover. Power to weight is about .9

I've done that trying to keep up to my son (Analog-Boy) rotten little @#$%^ :0), only it was on a low Knife edge pass.. re-kitted the plane.. and laughed too.. it went into a little dip in the field.. dissapeared for a second and then all you saw was a puff of parts.. BTW my son did the pass with the same plane whit the wing tip in the tall grass..

I don't have that much experience with the larger ones yet.. but it's coming..:0)

Take Care

I'll drag the rudder around upright but not inverted with the 35... That's a death I could avoid!
