Aerobat is online now
Default Re: servos

You don't need the programmer - they work like any other servo. I want to get one just to be able to center the servo arms without using subtrim.

OK,do I need this Hitec programer now or will this 5955 work with a regular reciever?
Thanks!
Great choice for rudder servo. I am currently finishing a 29% Precision Aerobatics Edge540T. I used 5955 on all control surfaces.
To answer your question, No you absolutely do not need the programmer.
Start saving some money and buy as soon as you can. It is not only good for programming, it is an extremely nice servo tester. I set up a paperbacked foam board with two servo mounts and marked off graduation kind of like a protractor. Then attached some 12" sticks to some servo horns. It is amazing what you can find on some of those old servos that you thought were good. If you want I can send you a pic of my setup.

I second the comment about the Hitec programmer being a great servo tester. I actually use it more for that function than programming the servos. Great tool for testing old servos you are not sure about.

Yeah the old servos , you know, the ones in the planes we fly day in and day out.
All of a sudden one has a gear failure and kiss you bird byby
Pull your servos at least once a flying season (you know when the weather sucks in winter and you have nothing else to do).

You planes will live much longer
