I do not think a Funtana .40 will hover well, if at all with a .46 AX.

Seen one with a os 50 or something, just remember it was an os and smaller than a 60. Flew ok but didnt see it hover or anything like that. The 2 stroke was screaming just to keep it in the air, no comparison to mine with Saito 80. Wouldnt put anything less than a 80 or 82 saito, or if you going to go 2stroke, probably around a 65 would do it. I know some guys claim ok performance on a YS 63 4stroke, but i cant support that. Aerofun had a video of the F40 V Edge 540 46 on their site, Think they had a 61fx of similar in the F40.

Everything Gus said....except it does fly well with a YS 63 and 30% heli at sea level (APC 13x4W). I had two of these things. The other had an Irvine 53 2-stroke. Not enough power.

46FX = no good on F40

I have a f40 with a evolution .61nt and a 14x4 prop. I just change the prop so I don't know how this one will act but I did fly it a lot with a 12x6 while I was breaking in the motor. It would hover at just barely under half throttle. I live in oklahoma so I am not that high in altitude. I had a 0.S. .46?? on it and a ??x6 and it wouldn't hover. It tryed to hover but just wasn't enough and you could harrier it, cause of the good wing loading, but that would be way to risky. With a .46 it will fly like a scale aerobatic airplane.
Also, the guys in the funtana vs. Edge video did use .61 size engines.

My funtana 40 is set-up with a Saito 82 and IMO it is the best combo for the plane. It bolts right in. The Saito 100 requires a new engine mount and firewall modifications.

i have the funtana 40 with a saito 100 on it
i maidend it last weekend and wow its so awsome
the moter mount needed some griniding but its sweet
the fire wall did not need any modifaction. sepfor a little repostioning for one of the firlwall bollts cause the carb would hit
but thats it
the cg is actually tail heavy with it ready to fly so we had to move the battery pack forward for the maden
so when we go to adjust the cg all we have to do is move the battery pack.
so its not nose heavy like i thought it would be
zak west did a vid on his he had a saito 100 and it rocks
i love mine so far hovers a 1/3 throttle
im useing JR ds811 all the way around
JR 9303 trans
i love mine so far its great

I have flown the funtana 40 w/ a saito 72 in it, and it wasnt very powerful IMO.

i had a Saito 100 strapped onto my F40. It was a rocket ship...almost too much power really..hard to hold a steady hover because of the power. The only mod i had to do was grind away a bit of the inside of the motor mount. A Saito 82 or 91 would be perfect....i'd lean towards the 91 or a strong 61 2 stroke...such as the Os FX or a Thunder Tigre pro 61. Don't waste your time with the OS46....if you want a 3D bird for a OS46, get a profile.
