Default 3D Manuevers Explained......

Alright all you 3D pros, We ( uneducated peeps) need your help with some of the coolest/sickest 3D manuevers out there EXPLAINED.. I am getting the high alfa rolling harriers down finally but have seen some really cool moves and need to know the stick movements to get them right. I know this could take up alot of server space for the Giants but if you can direct us to some of the best media (instructional videos, books etc.etc.) for explaining this stuff it would be a great help. I fly with a bunch of guys not to hip on 3D and have had to learn all the moves based on alot research after seeing some of the sick vids our FG bros have posted.. Hope this helps many!!!

Come on guys. I would like to see this also. I know that the Ground School is going to have some of this, but we could get a good start through someone talking us through a description of the maneuver, What the plane is doing and the stick movements to make it happen. There is a large enough membership that if we have a few people each take one maneuver and talk us through it. Then we should have a big list in no time.

Come on guy step up to the plate.

O.K. heres another angle to our approach, since no one has come forward with there secrets. How about any one with a 3D/manuever question bring it to the table here, and see what happens. I will start with something simple, I hope!!! I was trying to do a knife edge loop with a 3d plane(foamie) and with using just rudder it would flaten out to a flat spin half way around. What a mess. I tried to add some down elevator as it went into an upright flatspin but couldnt seem to pull it off. I see guys doing them all the time here in the video gallery and needed to know what Im doing wrong or is the plane need to set up different. I do like a little tail heavy CG. Please help!!!

Well, I'll put in my vote for best 3D maual/book out there. Author Scott Stoops wrote this SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL book about everything RC related. Begins with the theory of flight, and progresses to cover all the flight attitudes, basic/advanced IMAC, and hard-core huckin'. This book is a must! I have no affiliation with Stoops, I've only e-mailed him, but I think he's a great guy!!

One trick I learned for torquerolling that has also proven useful in many other aspects of flight is to fly the nose when the canopy is facing you and the tail when the belly is facing you. This way, your natural responses will be the same for both positions, and more importantly, they will be the correct response!
With the canopy facing you, if the nose goes left, give it right (duh) or if it starts dropping away from you, pull it back by pulling on the sticks (again, duh!). Now, when the belly is facing you, pay attention to what the tail is doing. if it starts going left, give it right rudder. If it starts going away from you, pull it back with up elevator. Get it?
I find that knowing your rudder is EVERYTHING in 3D, and the first thing I see when someone falls out of a TR, or any other aerobatic maneuver, is the wrong rudder input.
BTW, use your imagination with this, it is useful for the rudder for inverted flight, uplines, etc.

Now this is what Im talking about!! Great feedback Guys! I know all will find your input rewarding. That is some awesome advice bodyworks, I have been recently working real hard getting the rudder down, especially belly in, like you suggested, and while inverted. You guys rock. Keep it coming!!!!

not that I'm any pro guys, but as far as the torque rolling goes I always found that the easiest way to think of things is in terms of the wings when it's belly towards me, the stick goes to the low wing.

That the technique I use. I guess both will work well.

I'm really trying to work on rolling harrier's and rolling circles. I fly mode one so the stick movements are a little different to the groundshcool trailer. I'm using my foam (ultrafly outrage) to learn the imputs before doing it on my bigger planes.
