Can any one give me some ideas on how the big models handle. up to now, I've flown small models, of all kinds. I have move up to an Edge 25% with 25cc petrol motor in. Just need an insight to what to expect. I no that its heaver then other models I fly with. So expecting it to be quicker and pick up speed. I will pick a day when winds are fare and Farly cram. Thanks

Looking forward to flying it. All that's stopping me is the weather and a silencer. Will be going bigger still by the end of the year

Yep.. he's right. Make sure your CG is where it should be, the plane should definately fly faster, but because its larger, you won't notice it. These planes usually float down like a feather, so make a few passes before you attempt to land.. it will probably float past the runway if you don't go down to idle soon enough. It only takes a few passes to get used to it. A few years ago, I bought my first giant scale, an Aeroworks 50cc Extra, in November. I finished it in a couple of weekends, but I didn't get it in the air until probably March or April... I was so scared that I'd crack it up, that I just left it at the house and flew the small stuff. When I finally got it out, I found out that these planes really are easier to fly and land. Good Luck! |

Thank you for that. That's the way I normally go, with a new model. Its getting over the cost if I prang it on the first time out. I had a Dalotel in the loft for years. it went up last weekend and was OK . CG was out a bit, that's sorted now..

No, its a girl with nice boobs. Oh, you mean mine.... yeah, it was one of the first ones shipped from Aeroworks.. actually used the 50cc from my original Extra in it. The motor was just a little weak for the plane, so I sold it and have been waiting 2 months for a 3W 55-CS to get in. I finally got the motor shipped, but they didn't ship the muffler and prop that I ordered... very frustrating, but the motor should have 1 1/2 horses more than the 50cc... should be fun. |

I like it the first time I seen it on the media best of the giants. Have 6 foot wing Panic on order. Going to put a 45 in it.. Robert Newman from Avicraft is building it for me, as I do not have the time any more . I like biplanes

Me too.. this is my second. It flew OK on the 50cc, but it did need to build up a head of steam to have some fun. the 55CS should take care of that and make it a real treat!

Big planes fly like cake. Very smooth but with capability to be radical. I have found that I can get my 30% planes onto runways with ease where many guys struggle with .60 glow planes. The only caution I would give you is this. The "Tweener" size of large scale planes. Those that are too big for glow (unless you are talking about Saito 220 power for example) but not quite large enough for a good 50cc. If you build one of those as a gasser, it may fly nicely, but not like a true 50cc class plane. If you build a 72-80 inch plane, they are not quite like the new crop of 85-87 inch birds. Still a lot of fun though, and a little less money.

man your going to love it. the bigger planes fly soooo much better. and the best of all is you can see them much better no more stinking glow mess to clean up. no glow plugs, starter, heater, or all the other junk you have to have. just the plane ,radio, and gas, and have a ball.
