OKAY GUY I GUESS YOU SEEN EVERYBODY ON CONTEST ON FREESTYLE DO CRAZY STUFF WITH NO PROBLEM ALTHOUGH THE PILOTS ARE SWEETING THERE PANTS HOW YOU DO A ROLLING LOOP ITS NOT A BIG 3D MANUEVER BUT WHEN SETTING A ROUTINE ITS A GOOD MANUEVER TO IMPLEMENT WITH SLOW MUSIC LIKE A SLOW ROLLING CIRCLE ALTERNATING THE ROLLS TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. I'M SETTING A COUPLE MANUEVERS TO DO A VIDEO TO POST IT. OH AND WHAT RADIO MIX HELPS. |

take a rolling circle and turn it on end... and burn fuel... there is NO secret to any maneuver... other than burning LOTS of fuel... and sim practice helps too

Not quite that simple - you are now dealing with changing effects of gravity when rolling in a loop verses a circle. Sure, you could turn a rolling circle on its side and call it a rolling loop, but it won't be round. A precision rolling loop will require a lot more concentration, especially at the top of the loop, where the amount and direction of inputs are different than in a normal rolling circle. If you can do a rolling circle, yes, turn it on its side and you are on your way to doing a rolling loop, but burn fuel to learn how your inputs need to change. |

Biscuit, turn off the all caps.... (it means "I'm yelling at you!!!!!" in internet speak) Both Acres and Bodyworks are right. Turn a rolling circle on its side, correct for gravity and burn lots of fuel. The backside of a rolling loop is definitely a good thing to learn first on the sim and then in the air. Good luck bro!

Take a look at Leseberg's Dalton crash in the 2007 Shootout. Not very easy, even for the pros. I've found with every maneuver, that I've had to practice it, and then get it down. Practice makes perfect!!!

By burn a lot of fuel, you mean go out and practice, right? I am trying to learn to do a rolling circle. I've been using the rudder, maybe I'm doing it wrong?? I get the plane rolling with ailerons. When the right wing is up, i apply right rudder to keep the plane level with the horizon. When the left wing is up, i apply left rudder. Now to roll the circle, I keep the rudder held a little longer in the direction i want to go. So if i want the circle to go to the right, i keep right rudder an extra split second. Am i doing it wrong? |

The main thing to work on it practicing your inputs for the elevator and rudder separate then blending the two together. This is the way I help teach people to do rolling harriers as well. Learn the rudder and elevator separate and it helps train the mind to separate the two inputs. Good luck and burn lots 'O fuel or sim time. Once you have it down one way switch it up and go the other way. Then do half one way, half the other.......one roll each way on the each half.....the possibilities are only limited by your math skills.

To make the circle go in the direction you want it is all timing. If you want to roll to the outside of the circle, your elevator and rudder inputs are early. If you want to roll to the inside of the circle, all of your inputs are late. By late and early I mean either before you reach knife edge, or level, or after during your rolls. To do a loop, just give the inputs directly when you would normally do them, with a little extra input than normal and a lot more power. And don't forget to: Practice... Practice... Ummm and Practice! Seth |

Just like Curtis Youngblood told someone at a fun fly that asked him how to do some maneuver.. "The instructions are written on the inside bottom of every gallon of fuel...." Rick |

Im confused, do you want to learn a one roll loop or a rolling harrier loop? The rolling loop is hard but I think the second half is the hard part. You need lots of power. Pull up as you would any loop but start a slow aileron roll while your pulling up and as the wing gets to 45* or so start getting on your rudder and off the elevator at the same time. At this point you should be at the 1/4 mark. From there you will be giving the most rudder input and not much elev. except to correct any coupling. Just as you did the first 1/4 you will now have to ease off the rudder some and start pushing some down in but you wont need near as much down as you did up because the nose will want to drop. Its all about being smooth with the transition from elev. to rudd. and rudd. to elev. At the 180* mark up top your wings should be level and without flatening out the top keep pushing down in and and as your wing gets to 45* again start pushing rudder to keep the circle going and again you will be off the elevator for the most part except for small coupling issues. At 270* mark you will have alot of rudder and as it comes around and the wings are at or around 45* you will be adding some up while slowly getting off the rudder and when your done you should be right back where you started. I know it sounds easy but it does take some practice but stick with it and you will get it. Just remember, its easier if you break it down into 1/4 and just practice the first 1/4 until you have it down then move on. Also the second half is harder than the first because of gravity and the plane wants to drop fast so you have to be a little quicker with your inputs but dont panic and you will get it. Just start high when practicing the downside part . Good luck
