Default 2006 Advanced World Aerobatic Team by Beavis

I dont know if any of you are watching the scores or not, but my good friend Jeff Boerboon is in second place at the Advanced World Championships in Poland. He was furnished an Extra 300L by the Factory in Germany to compete this year. Team USA is 2,3,4 in the placing.
Go USA!

Thanks for posting that! I wish Todd Whittmer was doing a little better. He is flying a borrowed Edge 540T. The unknowns might shake things up a bit. Team USA is looking strong!

It is funny you should say that. The Advanced world championships were started to allow world competition between pilots without the expensive unlimited aircraft. Originally they were flying Pitts, Lasers and old Extra 230's. Only Bi-planes were allowed 300 hp 6 cylinder engines. Then they allowed Yaks because they were relatively inexpensive. Then they said OK, any 2 seat plane can fly with a 6 cylinder. Now the only difference between the Unlimited WAC and AWAC is the number of seats. I was a little surprised that a Cap 231 was flying. It must be old enough to be considered "cheap" enough for AWAC. Funny thing is that Robert Armstrang has been flying a 231 at the WAC with good results the past few years.

I am not sure Todd's rented Egde ever made it to Poland. It said on the www.Advancedaerobaticteam.com website that Todd may be flying the German 300LP that 5 others are flying.

The contest is over tomorrow so I don't think they will be flying any unknowns. There are still a few pilots that haven't flown the Free. They have had horrible weather.

That makes a little more sense being that Todd got first at the team selection last year. The website posted by Mark showed him flying an Edge but that could just be from the pre-registration info.
