Help! Using a whip ant. on a gas plane?

I have a synth. Futaba RX that has very little time on it. It was in one of my helis. I am thinking of using it on my 33% Sukhoi. It has had the ant. wire cut and a whip put on. I never had any issues with it, but I don't want to put it on $2500 worth of model and find out it isn't good for gas airplanes.
Anyone use them? Or should I send the reciever in and have a new antenna put on?

I've got a Deans whip antenna on one of my G3 receivers in a Krill 39% KatanaS. Gave me a better range check than before using it. I don't see why using a whip antenna in a gas plane should be of concern, just make sure it's not mounted in a way where vibrations can make it start whipping and break.

One thing to pay attention to:

Make certain before every day at the field that the brass connector pin inside the antenna is intact. Mine got knocked when another airplane hit me (slope wing) and sheared inside- Let me say that my next flight was a little shorter than I'da liked.

I use whip antenna's on heli's and airplanes alike. This is how I secure the connector, a piece of fuel tubing over the connector and a couple of zip ties (over the connector part of the cable not the actual antenna wire). Seems to work great.

So, which is the whip of choice nowdays??

I've used them all back in the heli days, seems the Revolution was the choice back then.
