Now that's cool! Flyinrazorback. Wayne - I was just answering what people were saying, go with what "looks good". I'm not putting Dalton down, I was just expressing that the Carden Looks better - and yes, I do drive a Volvo -- but fly a Carden . No hard feelings to Dalton. So, I don't like the way they look -- No big deal dude -- But I might like the way they fly - who knows until I fly one as I stated above -- So please don't take it out of context. |

At the risk of sounding ignorant here...what is the difference between the Dalton 260 and 300. Are they the same airframe/wings/stabs etc with a different deck/canopy or is the 39% a complete new design? I do really like the looks of the 300!!

Just ordered my Dalton 300 today. Cant wait to get started!!! Both make great airplanes, but I dont want to go through all the extra work to have a light airplane.

You could just get both! Once you are done it all will boil down to which one you burn more fuel with. That will be the aircraft that yeilds the best result. There is not an IMAC plane out there that "looks" scale compared to the full size. Look at a Katana. The full scale nasty looking but the Krill is pretty nice! Anyway buy what you would like by the looks and if price is the issue a giant scale airplane is not a good option. Your looking at 5k for a 35%er if you build it yourself. $200 dollars should not make or break your selection. Beavis will be on top of his game with any airplane he gets practice with. You will be to. Jason |

All this flaming about which company is better is pretty sad. Here is what the person needs to do or if you are in the market for a new plane ie: 300, 540, 260 etc... Get with someone who actually has which ever plane you are looking for and see if they let you fly it. Dont abuse someone elses plane just fly it around, do a couple of IMAC style lines with etc... Make your own decission on the plane. Whethere here on FG or any other forum you are going to get a lot of people saying this plane is better and that plane is junk. If you fly well enough I'm sure there are folks out there that will let you get a hold of the sticks for a little while, maybe even a couple of tanks. Just remember that folks like Mark, QQ, Jason Knoll and Shulman will make any plane look like it flies the best in the world.

The Dalton 300 is coming in at 37 pounds with Greves Pipes. There are no weight figures out on the the Carden 300 at this time because it is new. But stock construction on every Carden is relatively the same. I believe Wayne's 260 came in at 37 with extensive lightening work done. An almost bone stock 330 that a buddy of mine has is 41 pounds, and I most reports on ones built relatively stock are 40 pounds. Thats about a 10% weight savings. They both can come in around similar weights, it just requires alot more work on one than the other. Like I said before though, they are both excellent airplanes.

I agree... both will be excellent flying planes. I had a carden 35% that I just sold and it flew well. I was also in the same issue you are in, Carden vs Dalton. After looking at the construction of both I went with the Dalton, and I personally can't say enough good things about the construction. The wood is all contest grade, all the "lightening" is done. Just build it per the instructions and fly. Typically, the Dalton's are 3-5 lbs lighter than the Cardens (stock kit vs stock kit). ![]() I haven't flown the Dalton yet so I'm not going to speculate. Either way they're both great planes. |

Well, Tony just called and I gave him a few bucks to put me on his build list(first available ~ April of '07). Man am I stoked!! Thanks for the call Tony Also, Tony answered my previous question relative to the difference between the 260 and 300. They share the same base fuse, wing platform, and stabs. The turtle deck, canopy deck, fin, rudder, and cowl are all revised along with the wing location. So now my only decisions are D-260 vs. D-300 and a color scheme. |

Teamflatout: I couldn't have said it better myself. No abuse to no one. Just expressing an opinion (my own) on the different looks between the two - when a few people said: "to go with the looks". - If it came out wrong (wrong like meaning If I said it flew like crap or bad crafsmanship, etc, etc) then my appologies. But I keep reading my post and no where did I say anything like that. Just a comparision on looks. I've never flown one - how in the heck would I know -- I just see them side by side and feel that Cardens look better. I hope we can put this to bed. Walkerk122: Glad to see that you ordered your plane - Good Luck with her!!! |

Apology accepted, I'm sure. That's the problem when communicating with a keyboard, there isn't any body language. Sometimes it sounds like we are saying something we don't really mean. I am sure that we all understand that you didn't mean any harm in your post. It's all good. Mike Darr
