A fool in Norway flew his 9m (354") Ventus glider with a 20-25 lb turbine and obtained a level speed of 137-139 km/h (87mph). I call him a fool for attempting a loop the way he did. Just watching the wing and spar flex during normal flying should have told him not to attempt what he did. Dang, it looks cold there, can you imagine the power a DA150 would make he he. http://www.modellfly.us/hmk/video/videos/ventus.wmv

I was wondering if we could see the onboard camera footage... then I saw the camera at the end. LOL guess that footage is lost to history ![]() The smoke residue looked like bloodstains in the snow lol. |

Boy, you never can tell about some people. Don't people ever think of wing loadings and g forces? At least it flew pretty good until he started showing off.

Honey! I just want to give you a little heads up on using the credit card at the hobby shop today. What's that? Oh, I decided to do that one project I've always wanted to do..... You know the one. The one where I get this big 'ol sleek composite glider (6 grand) and stick this turbine on top (4 grand) and a digital movie camera on a little stick out on the nose (3 grand) and some smoke canisters under each wing so I can see the sumbitch streak all over the field at some frost bitten location in the frozen Northland of Europe. (7 grand, roundtrip) What's that, honey? You're going to your mother's place and calling a lawyer? Does the lawyer fly gliders too? Honey? Are you still there? Yes, but it look cool! The smoke cannisters still going and bouncing after impact was priceless. The decapitated pilot was a bonus. At least nobody got hurt.

That thing was certainly hauling the mail before the wing spar let go. I wonder if it made a "pow" sound when it let go? Couldn't hear anything over the horrendous music....

First time in the crash formus. Seriously..... Flying a glider like a fighter jet? Talk about getting what you deserve. I was so bummed out that the horrific music was pasted over the turbine and snapping spar sound.
