Default A spectacular end to the Loving's Love!

Many of you have seen Mark Glazer's unique Loving's Love (below) zooming around at IMAA events all over the Carolinas. And those who frequent the Joe Nall will certainly recognize it since it stayed in the air there for the past several years. But in 2006, this 42% replica of Neal Loving's gull-wing racer was noticeably absent from the flight line. Why? Because it met its' demise in spectacular fashion at a Fall 2005 IMAA fly-in in Fayetteville, NC. And it was all captured on video that we have finally managed to upload! Have a look here.

Don't worry, it lived a long and fast life and went out doing what it did best....and Mark is preparing to replace it with an updated version!

Oh yeah, they found everything because it was right there on the edge of the runway. And this plane was built so strong that it was amazingly intact for such an impact.

As you watch the video, you'll see that it was on one of its' patented low passes when the right wing "grazes" the tall grass at the outside edge of the runway and pulls the plane into the ground. And it all happened in a split second. Pilot Larry Lewis said that it was the fastest landing it ever made....AND the shortest!

Ah yes, the Love. The first version of muffler on this plane was designed by the guitar player from Spinal Tap. "Well this one goes to 11. If you're flying along breaking the speed of sound (plane subsonic, sound SUPER DUPER sonic!) and need a bit more to get you over the edge, you just bump it to 11!!" I know Larry and Mark hated seeing me coming on the flight line at the Nall! Funny thing is the plane went faster with a better muffler system! Nothing but Love Larry and Mark!!
