Abdullah, If the plug fouled it really means your mixture was rich. Thats not uncommon with a new engine as a lot of people wrongly assume running a gas engine rich is good. Actually running them lean is a killer, very bad bad thing to do. But running them rich is also bad as it creates a lot of unburned fuel and oil in the combustion chamber and that can foul the plug. Another cause is using too much oil in the fuel mix to run the engine in. I don't have the DA mixture in my memory but 32:1 with a mineral based oil. Lawn boy or any good quality air cooled motorcycle oil will do the trick. Don't use synthetic oils to run your motor in. With a 50cc engine two or three gallons should be enough to run it in then go for the 80:1 synthetics. I am sure the ambient air temperatures are very high in your area so care needs to be taken with good cooling of your engine as well. Not that a DA50 needs to be baffled in a big round cowl, but it will need good attention in your extra. When you get your engine mounted post some pictures here so we can help you with cooling if you need it. I still cannot get over how nice your flying facility is. Kiwi |

I say that you always want to learn from problems like this, whether they are your problems or someone elses. The key thing is to learn from them. Also, that is a GREAT looking field you are flying at.

like kiwi says tune your engine for the right rpm and use oil mixture for brakein.running it rich will also wash the cylinder out and it will be wore out before it is broke in.on a da it is 32-1 for three gallons on dino oil and then on to the syn at 70-1 in high heat .good luck with the extra and above all have fun
