Our club keeps an up to date record of what channels everyone flys. This is added with each new member and updated at least once a month as people get new equipment/join etc.

No, AMA insurance will not cover any loss of this type. The only coverage that pertains to a plane would be a theft loss. The liability insurance is only for bodily injury. It does not cover negligence that results in the loss of a plane. However, IF there had been an injury involved, then the insurance "might" cover the injury. Maybe not. Lots of variables.

Sweeet!!! It's the Findlay Flying Circuits club field on Hancock CR 18...just north of Findlay, Ohio. If you're in the Detroit area, Findlay is about a 2 hr drive.

It's a big-bird fly on June 2-3...IMAA birds only on Saturday and open flying on Sunday. We're a smaller club...very laid-back....you can get in lots of flying at our field.

Lemme know if you're comin, and spread the word to anyone else who may be interested!

Lloyds of London insurance seems to be our only choice then, maybe.

Sorry about your loss Sleepy, here is what I do at the field, while going to get my pin, I ask around basically everyone if they are on my frequency, I am not satisfied with the pin alone, this also tells me who is on my frequency and everytime I go to fly I remind that person to be careful.
Hopefully with the new 2.4 Ghz we will not have this problem anymore.

Sorry to hear Sleepy. Especially when you cheated death with the trees a couple of weeks back.
I almost suffered the same fate with my new Comp-arf 2.3 last Sunday. Only 5 flights old.
I knew the other person on my freq & even told him personally i would be flying now before i put my tag up on the board. 5 min's into the flight he switched on in the pits playing with his plane. I had about 15sec's of failsafe with the occasional good signal gettiung though. Luckily lots of screaming at him to switch off finally got though to him & he switched off just in time.
I hope 2.4 will mean the end of this happening.

Sleepy,
I hate to hear about your loss. In my 25 years it is now in modeling, fortunetly I have never been shot down. I can image the frustration you have. Like you said dumb thumbs you can live with, but things like this drive you nuts.

I know others have said this, but... 2.4ghz has you name written all over it. We had an old guy a while back with a big warbird that was cleaning it up and packing up for the day. He remembered he had not pulled the retracts up in the wing so he could stick it in the back of his Suburban so he just grabbed the TX beside him and flipped it on and the the model and hit the retract switch when about the same time a guy was flying brand new Funtana 90 and he starts screaming and of course a second later it full boar's the ground. As you already figured out the old guy shot the other guy down. No wondering who did it tons of guys witnessed it. The old guy said and I quote, "That is the way the mop flops." and got in his vehicle and left. Period. Never offered anything period. There are incosiderate jerks everywhere. Destroying your 3W and all, is a major $$$ loss. I feel for you.

Sorry you lost your Panzel, Sleepy. Just so you know, that cloud was spotted in Maryland on Saturday. I was flying the wife's Cub and was coming in for an inverted pass. I went to push a little more elevator and had no response, I tried to throttle up and nothing. I tried to slap it over and it just lolled over and went in on the nose. Amazingly little damage. After I got the plane back to the pits and was looking it over, a guy walks up to me from the end of the field where I crashed and asks if I am done with the pin...............Oh well. Maybe it was a coincidence.

With witnesses and affirmation from the culprit himself, I wouldn't let anybody just get in their car and leave. If that means the use of " tires be gone " then so be it.

**************** ensure guilt before using "tires be gone" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or it could be the other way around.
