Definitely sorry about your loss Sleepy. The fact that people don't owe up to this kind of stuff (if they in fact cause a crash) is just beyond me. Bet that guy who turned on his radio to pull up the gear before putting his plane in the car would have been MIGHTY PO'd if the same was done to his machine while it was flying.

The 2.4 stuff is really nice IF you are not absolutely married to the feel of a Futaba radio right now. Unfortuantely, I'm one of those guys with a 12Z so it looks like I'm going to be waiting a bit longer for a 2.4 solution from Futaba.

Might be sending my TX in for a check-up tomorrow just as a precaution.
The same thing happened to me. I was practicing IMAC and flying straight and level when my plane just pitched up! Then went back to straight and level. I landed it and we did a serious range check with the engine running, No problems found. Took another bird up and it flew great. The next day I'm flying another bird and it pitches up. (thank God I wasn't inverted) So I sent the 14MZ back and they found the "Stick encoder"?? was bad. They tuned it up, did a software upgrade and even replaced the touchscreen. Didn't cost me a dime.
Total turn-around was 9 days including time in transit..

Sleepy,
Please Find this Guy and Confront Him. Even if he don't confess or open his checkbook, at least he will learn that the frequency board is extremly important, and perhaps it will save somebody elses plane.

Sorry to hear about your Panzl.

That definitely sux sleepy!!!!

Just curious, was the other guy getting ready to fly or was he packing up when you flew? If he was packing up, not using the radio, wouldn't the plane just become non responsive with the controls around neutral?

Not nesessarily. EPA, SUB TRIM, Servo Matching, Servo Reversing, Flap and gear inputs used for seconnd aileron or elevator servos with mixing...etc..

In General why, when somebody has a Hit, does everyone try and disprove it

I had a "hit" and went in years ago. It was a new guy with a trainer and the safety master/lead instructor working with a student to tune the carb before a flight. He paid in full. So, this goes to show, it could have been an accident. I overheard some gomers talking about shooting down one of those " big planes that the rich guys own". I put a stop to that crap! The grown teens were old enough to know better. They were kicked out of the field with a restraining order on the field's property. I think confronting that person now is a little late... Maybe like .... statute of limitations? I dunno. I am sorry that you crashed that thing, you sure loved it..
