Angry Shot down - it finally happened to me.

Well I feel like calling it quits after today.

Just back from Nall where 1000's of people were flying,
and I had no issues.

I get to my home field today there is maybe 10 people there.
Set up the Panzl, check the batteries... fuel it up, range check and get ready for a flight.

No ones in the air so I fire up, warm up the motor and head to the run way...
check the wind, wot the motor and the Panzl is air born in 10 feet..

25 feet I go vertical.. at 50' every single surface on my plane goes full deflection.. no response, even my fiber optic throttle kill won't work!!

I Yell - - - - Hit - - Hit - - - Hit!!! but it's too late..

FREAKING Plane piles in nose first at a good speed.

The plane is 100% loss, my 3W 100 is bad, freaking carb is ripped off, mufflers destroyed, who knows what else is busted...
A few servos were killed... and my brand new TT spinner and Vessprop are smoked.

And the Panzl was flying SOOOo good. JeeUm and Kevin helped me at Nall dial it in and it was AWESOME. ARRGGHHHHH (just made myself mad)

The very best part of today.. no one stepped up and took blame.

BUT funny how this one particualr dude's stuff was all packed up as soon as the incident took place, and he was completely gone after I came from the walk of shame.

I was and am very upset... this is putting a hurting on my wallet something fierce,
and damn it , I can accept a dumb thumb, but this straight sucks..

I sat for a moment and kind of laughed... and then I did the only thing I could to stay sane... I grabbed my FG foamie and ran 2 packs through it wringing the poo out of it.

Ahhhh this hobby... its worse than anything.. one minute it the best thing ever.. the next minute you want to sell it all, and take up golf... I mean Shoot... worst case on a day golfing.. you break a club, or loose a pile of balls......

I'll TAKE PICTURES LATER.

I can't bare to look at the carcus right now.

PS: FOR SALE: One slightly used BLACk CLOUD. This Black cloud will follow you around rain or shine...it will always be at your side.. you will never be alone. $1

Did you set your failsafe position off for the ignition kill?

Fail safe was set to neutral all surfaces and idle, any lock out should make the smartfly optic kill shut off the motor, I mean if I turned off my transmitter the motor died. I had to display this at the Nall.

And the motor never died.. so it wasn't lock out.
And when I got to the wreakage I tried my ruder and eleavators and they were working just fine....

BUT who knows.. either I got shot down, or I had a momentary problem that fixed itself after the crash... I know I know anything is possible.

Man Sleepy, I feel for you. Sorry to hear about this. All you want to do is enjoy the hobby.

I will pass on the Black Cloud you have listed in you posting above. I am afraid it would cost me more that the price you are asking. Cheer up. You have lots of guys pulling for you.

If you were using PCM and got a hit, everything should go to your fail safe setting. The only time I have seen a PCM rcvr get hit and got to positions other then the fail safe settings, there was a problem with a servo giving a feed back to this guys rcvr. He was lucky, his damage was not bad enough that we were able to get the system to do it again and I found the bad servo. You never know.

But again.......Sorry for your loss. I feel for you.

The guy that left, was he a member, and does anyone know what channel he was on? Or did he have a dial-a-crash radio (worst idea ever!!!!)? Was there anyone else on your channel there?

Weird - I thought I responded to this thread, but my post did not get on. Oh well.

Since you did not go into lock out there is only 1 possibility. Which is that the suspected culprit had a PCM radio of the same brand as yours on the same channel as yours. In that case you will NOT get a lock out. The RX will obey the strongest signal. In every other case you WILL get lock out if another TX turns on using your channel regardless of whether it is PCM, PPM same brand or not.

Serious bummer Sleepy. I would really hope that if someone shot someone else down that they would at least take responsibility. I don't know wht the Hell is wrong with people these days. At least no one got hurt. Sorry to hear about the loss.....that is a big chunk of change
