I think he is saying that the synth recievers do not have crystals.
How ever I was flying with a 9C radio and a 149dp reciever the same reciever that Mr.Hyde uses and several other top pilots.
I will admit it was a stupid mistake and just got over looked.Sometimes it is the stuff that is right in front of you that you never see.
Everybody can see 20/20 after they make a mistake.

So did you have the little plastic cover over the crystal? Thats crazy that it came out! Sorry about the plane, I know its a real shocker when something like that happens. Total bummer!

This reciver did not and does not have one.
Usually I tape them in but the dumb ass in me just came out and I did not do it.
It is even on my preflight check list and I marked it as done before I went to the field.

yup, you need the little plastic cover over the xtal because it actually is made to hold in the Xtal. Without this the only thing holding it in is a slight pressure fit of two little prongs.

Sorry for your loss. There is nothing nobody can say that will take the bitter feeling of loosing one`s pride and joy. Specially on a maiden. Fortunate are we, all of those who read your thread and learnt that there is another `don't forget' in our prefllight checklist.

I just lost my first 27% Extra by being dumb. Not enough airspeed whilst turning to the downwind leg after a missing approach. (I just ordered a new ARC 31% CA eExtra 300 to kill the pain and practice flybyes).-

i'm chiming in late here and probably beating a dead horse, but i lost a crystal out of my heli one time. It even had the cap/cover in place! Up side is that i had the lowest inverted hover of the day... (ha ha)

Since then i tape them even if there's a cap/cover on the crystal just to make sure THAT doesn't happen again.

I have been around these things for 27 years.I will be right in the middle of things soon.
I just took this summer off to hang with the kids and wife.I have spent years with planes and flew every chance I got.
This thread is from back in May or something like that.I have since moved on.
