Mikey, first of all I feel your pain! What I'm most impressed about is you handling the accident as just that, an accident! Too many times we get carried away with the other guy. It's ALWAYS a .40 size plane that tries to share our airspace. You sir have just acheived major respect in my book. Mighty glad you're a Flying Giants member!!

Thanks Biff I just have to rember that we all have flown .40 size planes before and that our .40 size planes were just as special as a big planes when we owned them. If you go to a flying field and your plane cost 5000 and the other peoples cost 500 you have no more rights to the field then them. There is no one to blame it is a risk we all take when we fly with other planes in the air.

BRAVO DUDE!!! I must confess, I've embarrassed myself a couple times years ago. Don't plan on EVER pulling that nonsense again. Truly proud of how you handled yourself. You sir are a poster boy for what this site is all about. Being a gentleman and taking things as they come. Crashes do happen. As my dad told me years ago after one of my teenage micro bursts, "If you ain't man enough to lose and airplane gracefully, you best get another hobby. Crashes do happen. If you can't afford finacially or emotionaly to lose one,,better leave them in the shop." True that huh? You ROCK Mikey!!

Thanks Biff for the kind words. Flyinrazrback I did not build the plane I bought it from someone that had the plane professionaly built. I am going to try to get the wing ordered tommorow and do it myself. Unless someone is from the dallas area wants to build a wing for me?

Mikey, First off, Biff nailed it on the head. Congrats on how you handled it! I know it sucks, but I've been in your shoes. Here's my take on the repair: 1. That wing is repairable. I've seen wings rebuilt that were broken into several pieces. Having said that, I wouldn't bother. The amount of repair work required to PROPERLY repair that wing is not much below what it would take to build a new and undamaged wing. If you had all of the tools and supplies, you'll spend more time waiting on glue to dry than you will building the wing. 2. I would send your engine in for a checkup. Anytime an engine throws part of a prop, and is still running, you run the risk of bending the crank and/or damaging bearings. I'm assuming it's a DA, so they will give you no hassle on checking it. Just tell them exactly what happened. 3. Spend a couple of hours going through all of the glue joints in the fuse, primarily the motor box and where the trusses join the motor box. These areas are typically where things break when a prop lets go. You may not find anything. Then again, you may find several areas that need some attention.
