Default 3dHobbyShop Yak & Katana Vs Electric Flight Yak

http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=1907 (3dHS Katana)
http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=1908 (3dHS Yak)

or

http://www.extremeflightrc.com/html/yak54e.html (EF Yak 54)

Anyone have first hand experince with any of the listed kits? I'm looking Kit with everything included. The EF seems to be the favourite of the group, but 3dHOBBYSHOP seems to be the cheaper of the two. How is the flight preformance between the two and which come with superior electrionics. Sorry im a newbie I've flown glow and gas engines all my life.

Shed some light and help me decide which to get!

I have first hand experience with all of these planes. As being a pilot for 3dhobbyshop.com, I know pretty much more about these airplanes than most evryone else. In my opinion, the extreme flight is a pretty good buy, but if you want a real bang for your buck, go with the katana. You will not be disapointed with it.
Also, if you have anymore questions about these planes just feel free to ask.

How are the flight charastics of all these planes? ie. bad habbits, how much coupling, main flight differences between all of them.

And also how are the electronics that come with these planes? Motor wise, battery wise etc... Again im looking for durability, flight times and power. Which can offer what I need?

The extreme flight flies well with just a few bad habits. One is it gets sort of weird in knife edge and another is it just rolls smoother to the left than to the right for some reason. The 3dhobbyshop yak is an all around 3d machine with its short fuselage and huge tail surfaces. It rolls to the same direction as rudder and pitches to the belly some in knife edge. It's a little bit lacking in the precision side though. The katana is an awsome 3d and precision plane. It's the best of both worlds. It pitches to the belly a little in knife edge, but that's about on the bad tendencies.

Hope this helps some,

Matt

What about the 3dh Extra 300 SHP that's coming out this month. What can you tell us about that one, as compared to the ones just discussed?

My dad has flown and I haven't, so this is based on what he told me. The extra is now probably the best choice at this point. Very good 3d characteristics and almost non-existent knife-edge coupling even in high-alpha. If you have any more real specicfic answers I'll tell him to chime in.

Nope. That's what I was referring to (3d and KE coupling). You read my mind, thanks!

Couple of pictures to whet the whistle...

FWIW, the Extra SHP was designed to be the perfect 3D machine. We think it is pretty close. Virtually no coupling, no rock making for stable harriers, thin wing section for great post stall tumbling release...

I have the 3dhobbyshop yak and the only thing they left out of the package deal was a extension to go from the speed controller to the receiver. so not knowing what the green isolator was all about i removed it to get it to reach the receiver. so it was frustrating at first wondering what was going on. but now understand and have fixed but not had the chance to fly yet. It came in hard on one landing because of the problem but came out without a scratch. I can't tell you how many landing gears i have broke off but this one is still in one piece, so it seem to be built solid.
