Default Thunder Power xtreme charge rate?

Quick question....

are the TP Xtreme series capable of 3C charge rate?

I see it mentioned in various places, but I cannot find it in "official" form anywhere...

Cheers
Exeter

This is a grey area that's debated by many electric flyers. I doubt that you'll see any Manufacture endorse charging their batteries at higher than 1C. Charlie Wang (Thunder Power's main man) has done extensive testing on the new Extreme batteries at 2-3C charge rates. He's stated that he's found no noticeable degradation in the battery's performance from charging at these hige rates.
There's a few things to note however:
1) The tests were conducted under controlled lab conditions and constantly monitored.
2) He emphatically states that one must use the TP 1010 C charger in conjunction with the 210 V balancer because of the built-in saftey features.
IMO, Thunder Power will not condone charging their batteries at levels higher than 1C because of liability issues.
That being said, There are many that are charging their higher discharge batteries (15-25 C) at 2-3 C and reported no loss in performance. Whether or not they're going to get a couple hundred cycles out of them, who knows? There are a lot of variables in play, like, how hard are the batteries being pushed, or are they being flown to LVC.
So I guess it's up to you. As the saying goes; " Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances".

Understand completely....

one of the reasons I was asking is for the fact that I work at a hobby shop and have people ask me what is best....

I always err on the side of caution with charging, but more and more peoplea are asking.....

Hmmm... You said exactly what I was thinking.... and I appreciate it

I used to manage a hardware store many moons ago. One day the owner showed a woman how to replace a standard wall outlet with a GFI. That night her home burned to the foundation and the fire department said the fire started in the wall where she changed outlets.

She sued the hardware store for some serious money. She eventually lost the suit but it cost the store owner huge money to defend himself. In fact, he had to sell the hardware store to cover his legal expenses.

Bottom line: Err on the side of caution when charging but bite your lip when customers ask for non-standard advice.

Pete

ain't that the truth...

I always simply pass along the manufacturers info....

that was partly why I was asking what the "official" charge rate is for these batteries....

Thanks a bunch
