Default Eflite 40 amp ESC...

Hi guys,

I'm setting up a Brio 10 with the recommended setup (Eflite 480, 40A ESC, TP 1320mAh 3Cell...). I'm having a problem with (what I think is) the ESC. I plug in the battery and the speed control initializes fine because I get the 2 beeps... but when I advance the throttle the motor sputters and spins erratically. Occasionally it will even stall out and not move at all while still drawing amperage. ESC and battery get pretty hot. I'm thinking it's defective, but wanted a second opinion. Nothing is shorting out from what I can see.

Thanks,

Chris.

Check all connector pins and make sure none are bent.

I'm running Deans ultra connectors for power and all of the rx connections look good. I sent an email to Horizon earlier today describing the issue... I'll post if they have a solution to the problem when I get a reply.

Any one else out there encounter something like this?

Quick phone call to Horizon and we concluded that it is defective... Good news is they're sending me a new one free of shipping hassle or charge!

Good thing you found out quickly what the problem was and it's being taken care of. It can get really frustrating trying to track down an electric power system problem. I've had similar problems, like you described, a few times and its usually a bad solder joint on either the battery or ESC.

me to you know, also on my 3rd bad 25 amp esc. They have great customer service. Only problem is that they just keep sending bad ones. No more E-flight esc for me .

Thanks for the replies guys,

We'll see how long this new one lasts. If it decides not co-operate, I won't waste anymore time with it... I think a CC 35 is the way to go.

Chris.
