axi or hacker out runner

hey

i wanted to know what everyones is using for foamy.
after comparing axi with hacker iv found that the hackers
seem to put out a bit more power.
but im looking for something to power like a hobby lobby
edge 540 the 36 inch one.

I have an AXI 2212/34 on my 3DBatix extra(36in wingspan, 12oz AUW) and it fly’s it great. I get close to 35min of flying on a TP1320 3cell.
I built my dad the same plane, but with a Hacker 20-20L and there is a big power difference. The only exception is the plane fly’s for 15min. with the same battery.
So all it comes down to is more power or longer flight duration.

With the AXI I am running a 11x4.7sf and on the Hacker a 10x4.7sf. Also the AXI has a jeti 12amp+ and the Hacker has the 20x for ESC's.

Axi is very conservative on there ratings you can add ~50% what they say the max amps and watts are.. case in point my 2808-24 i run with an 11x5.5 which is 30 amps with a 1800mAh 3s1p pack and ive run it for 3 years like this with never a problem(except the bearings went after 1.5 years, normal wear)

the comparison with the hacker 20-20L and 2212-34 is apples and oranges 2212-34 is a very low kv motor (around 710 kv) and the hacker 20-20L is high kv (around 1022kv) this makes the axi more efficent but much less power than the 20-20L.. a more sutable comparison would be the 2212-20 with the same 10x4.7 will be about the same amps (amaybe alittle more) or the 2212-26 would be good power with the 11x4.7 and be on par with the hacker, either way you can't go wrong..
i fly hackers and Axi's love them both..
to simplify my choice for that plane would be
hacker 20-20L with 10x3.7SF APC (1320Prolite or 1200mah 20c packs)
or
AXI 2212-26 with 11x4.7 and same batterys
with either you need a 20 amp+ esc

they are both EXCELLENT motors... either an AXI or Hacker will last you for Many airframes.....

My kiddo (Fandango) has about 15 of these little hand biters on anything from Foamies to his M-12 Pitts. He is running them with mostly Hacker 30, 35 & 45 amp speed controls. One thing I can say is that he has to do the electronic math to keep from cooking things and he does that well. When he says "Hey Dad look at this thing go," it's usually something purple on the front end. He does have a few Axi's and they go like crazy too. So from somebody that is totally un-biased (That means: don't really care about electrics in the first place!!) whether the color is gold OR purple, they all perform well. His satisfaction with them is all that counts and I think he is equally pleased with them.

I use both . . . can't go wrong with either. Hacker A10 7L on my own F3P design, and Axi 2203/46 on a Fancy Foam Vrolet.

Either will suit your needs and you will be happy!

Hacker kicks axi's axi!
I have axi and wish I could say I didn't. My axi got kicked.
My PJS's kick also.

I have brutalized my PJS's and they take a pounding and perform with the best.

PJS1500 APC13x7 CC85HV 6c lipos 25v at 87-90 amps bursts.
PJS for inexpensive high end performance. This is where I put my money.

Hacker is the way to go for high end performance, axi if you putt around IMO.

This is one of my PJS's above, I get 2200Watts burst out of it. weight is less than 6.5oz with my ribbed mount. This one is on a gentle lady glider AUW is 2lb 4-8oz depending on batteries used. STUPID POWER!! Love it!

My hacker ate my batts for lunch. So much power on a 20-20l it ripped the nose off my foamy when I floored it. Completely too much power. My 2212-34 has been my favorite motor for two years. It needs new bearings but it takes a licken and keeps on ticken. I sold my hacker.

To get back to the original question, for foamies the Axi's, they seem to be more efficient in the lower ranges of motors compard to the Hackers, when you start to get above the 50 - 60 range of IC equivilants then the Hackers come into thier own, they start to run out at the 45 - 50cc petrol engine sizes, and start to use multiple motors and gearbox's at this level its Pletenberg that come into the frame.
