Default Phoenix 35 ESC Problem

I've got a Phoenix 35 amp brushless speed control, 1800 20c 3s lipo and an Axi 2814/12. I can't get the esc to work. If I plug in a 25amp jeti that I've got the motor spins right up with no problem. With the Phoenix, the motor just kinda of stutters and the Esc starts to get warm pretty quick. My throttle is moving the correct direction and the trim and throttle are all the way down. What am I doing wrong?

That sounds to me like somthing is shorting out. This may be a dumb question but are your motor wires shrink wrapped where they connect to the controller? If not, make sure they don't touch.

If that's not the problem, call the Technical Assistance at Castle. They will help you with all the technical stuff, but most likely have you send it back, and that will solve your problem for sure.

Here's the number:

Everything is shrink wrapped. As I said when I plug the Jeti in, the motor works fine.

Hey Jee - The older CC's had problems with outrunner motors, especially AXI's. Email Shawn at CC and tell him what's going on and I'm sure he'll get back to you within a day or two. More than likely he'll just send you a new one no charge or a nominal fee. IMO there isn't a better company in this hobby when it comes to customer service.

Just got an email from Bernie at Castle. Seems it's called an FET failure. Guess it happens within the first 10-30 sec. of high energy use. Since mine was older, they didn't have the capability to test for this. Now they do and it's no longer a problem.

They're sending a replacement to me for nothing. Now that's what I call excellent customer service. These guys just won me as a customer for life.

Yeah, Castle has always done well in there CS department. I use a P25 and it is a great little ESC. If you ever need to update your ESC Jim, just let me know. I have the PHX Link you can use.
