Great job Max...

I can tell you as a District Director for NAMBA (North American Model Boating Association), we have dealt with many issues in certain areas with people like this complaining. Safety is usually the point that sways an issue one way or another.

It is great to see AMA step in and support you guys. To the average person, organizations such as NAMBA or AMA are irrelevant. They don't understand the importance of these organizations. Many times a city attorney has to look into the liability and insurance coverages, and soon they understand the significance of AMA and or NAMBA..

No worries there. Hugh would rather have hot pokers jammed into his eyes before he joined the evil AMA or a club associated with AMA.

Good points about AMA participation. While both the reps in attendance said little at the meeting, the AMA involvement has been there from the start. AMA personnel first met with the club folks last January. A site visit was made by HQ staff and District people. (Right after the Ontario show last year, so no added expense!!)

AMA HQ and District staff reviewed several letters and documents, made suggestions and worked closely with the club leadership. All this happened behind the scenes, but the club knows how much it helped them.

So while not trying to sound like one of the AMA cheerleaders that Hugh hates so much, all I can say is that AMA is so much more than insurance and a magazine. It is just sad that it takes a near miss like this for it to become apparent.

And there are other similar situations going on right now in SOCAL involving at least three other clubs. It is amazing how badly people in this hobby can act towards each other when they feel they are not getting what they think they deserve to have.

Hey Brett,

How are you doing? Yes, it certainly doesn't feel right! I don't know how he has managed to develop such animosity towards the whole thing. I tell you this much, people like him never live a peaceful life! God help him/them. Look forward to seeing you at the field.

In my opinion AMA is no different than say the NRA, they protect the right to enjoy our sport and for the most part are never seen, their not just as an insurer or a magazine. This is only part of what these organizations go through every day.

With out the liability coverage and someone watching our backs we all would be out of Hunting, fishing, and modeling as we enjoy it today......Garanteed!

This should be a wake up call to all of us, sooner or later we will all see this happen to us,.......It's not just the other guy.

Let me ask.. why in RC, Hobbies.. HECK in the US in General...

why is it that one or two peoples opinions matter soooooo much.

I mean it seems like the general population now has to cow tow to 1 or 2 people all the time. Like a city of 700,000 people has to remove things from the town square because 2 people say they were offended.

Or 1 guy vs. 250+ people in an RC club... what is this?!?!

When did the USA become a gelding?

First off the situation is exactly the same in Canada with MAAC (Canadian AMA). People slam MAAC all the time and say it's to expensive. $75 a year

When everything is hunky dory, city's/ government could care less and most probably don't have a clue. Then some loser comes along who they believe is a whistle blower and has a right to be heard. All the council has to hear is the word "DANGER" and now they have no choice. If the danger where real and the government did nothing then they would be liable. So even if the danger is made up by the mad ravings of some pathetic, disturbed and angry individual, they must take some coarse of action.

Thanks for the words guys, I encourage everyone reading this to watch the boring-ass video of the city counsel meeting. This was a close one, and I'm still reeling from happiness of the success of this debacle.

Best --

100% right! Chuck hit it on the head. As an ATA shooter, I can vouch for the wierd similarity between the NRA and the AMA (it does sound strange as I read this back to myself!)

Boring???? I found it scintillating

And it ain't over yet. Hugh, our favorite hater of all things that are not his deal, is now trying to make an end run using the coastal parks people or some such thing.

He will literally do anything, including making sure NOBODY flies there in order to prove himself right.

A real piece of work

The City Council has a second reading coming up and then a final vote. So it ain't over yet. Hugh still has time to mess things up, and trust me, he WILL try.
