I know in some area's the local government sort of gives a club the right to run things the way they see fit. Thats not the case here. The County provides the field. All they care is that you have AMA and follow the posted rules along with the AMA guidelines. The field was here before any of the clubs that now call it home even existed. They also provide trash pickup and supplies for the outhouses, and they used to do all the cutting. The problem for me becomes one of which club to join. There are at least 2 clubs there now, and maybe even 3. The problems come in when any one of them start to act like they own the place. I pay my taxes, so I have just as much right to it as anyone else. Member or not. I think this year I'll make a donation to the club that I feel has done the most good. Maybe I'll join down the road. Wow three clubs sharing one field, I can see how problems could arrize. Hopefully the three clubs have mutual agreement to the same set of field rules. I am guessing that there was one club and some event caused there to be two and now possibly three. I am sure glad that we own our field. It would probably be better if there was only one club...Best of luck

We have an a$$ at a club here too.. He is the president and has cussed out a few of my friends there. Including walking up to a guy WHILE he was flying and flinging profanity at the back of his head... Real champ.. |

Club politics suck. My best advice, if someone sonofabitches you, look 'em in the eye, shake their hand, and say "Thank you sir". If they continue to be a$$holes, send 'em a muffin basket with a hallmark card. Some people are incredibly prone to drama and when given a taste of power or a twinge of popularity for the first time in their life, they go completely stupid, piss everyone off, make incredibly lame decisions, and create enemys. Stroking a virgin ego can create a monster. Ignore 'em. They don't exist. That's my best advice.

I fly my helos full "OUTLAW STYLE". The bigger stuff is alittle tougher. Fortuantly Ihave tons of fields within about an hour. I am a professional GUEST. ONe of my favorite guest fields just banned guest flying. (BS) Way to go guys nothing like incouraging new membership. How about new flyers? (jerkoffs). My favorite field to fly guest at is the one I will probally end up joining. They encourage helo and big birds. Its great most of the members fly both. recently more helo's. everybody is cool and gets along if you dont get along nobody will talk to you. Couple months back some guy (member) starts in on this young kie and his dad (they fly alot) saying they where hogging the site. he was asked by the pres to settle down. He continued to make an ASS of himself. The about ten guys all together walked up to him asked him to load up and leave. I have only been back once since then but he wasnt there... The greater good. this club has the youngest prez and officials I have ever encountered. They work there butts off and it shows. Last year the soloed one member a week..

Man and I tought that the only*$&@#^@^ that fly RC were in my club, now I see they are everywhere but let me tell you I am going trough the same problem right now, I havent even flown for 3 weeks just because this people were driving me crazy, firts it was the 3D, so I started flying mi P-51 for a while and then all of the sudden it was to fast, so I bought a piper cup and I just received a letter in the mail from the safety officer saynig that I am doing too many and too slow low passes and touch and goes, can you beleve it?

Dir Sir or Madam, It has come to my attention that you have been having fun while flying at the flying field. That will not stand. Please try harder in the future to be more disgruntled in general and also make damn sure to piss and moan about anyone doing anything with any form of model aircraft that exceeds the abilities of a rank beginner. Your help in this matter in mandatory. You will not receive another warning. Also please take note that real pilots have some sort of fixation with NASCAR and we think all circuts should always be counter clockwise. No if's and's or but's. Sincerely, The Grand Field Marshall Poobah of the Club |

The personality clashes at the field I've been with for over 15 yrs pull off the - oil & water - routine pretty well. You rarely hear or see the true ugliness described in the earlier posts. It really is a great group of guys. I drive 55 miles additional (round trip) to fly with these guys on the grass strip. I believe I do well at avoiding the club politics, mainly by treating everyone the same and avoiding caring about the "polarizing issues" that really don't matter. Now with all that warm n' fuzzy stuff out of the way - If you want to piss me off - ( not mad just upset me) then chum out with us and now and then - speak a different language to your select few 'buds'. Yep -there it is plain and simple. IMO, You just created your own EXCLUSIONARY "club" -that I really find offensive and rude. It says to me - I don't want you included - without the hushed tones. (is some cheese needed for this whine?) Of course I keep this opinion to myself because- most 'offenders' are judged as innocent to MY (personal) objection to their practice. But most of all- IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER - I'M OUT TO THE FLYING FIELD FOR A FUN TIME. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. So I walk away -if possible - knowing they missed out on the best answer to their building problem, or my personal tried and tested equipment opinion or other champion advice!! ( you know what I mean) Their loss not mine. The a holes that are intolerable are the ones who have gone out into the cypress stands to recover someone else's 'lost' aircraft - take it or rape it good and pocket the booty as his own. That issue would get me to go "toe to toe" with a member. |
