Default Members can be jerks.

Does anybody have members at there field that are just out right rude. At my field they're kind of like memberists meaning they get pretty pist if you not a member. So for just the non members they put up a total nonmemeber area. Luckly now I'm a member and hope to change some of the evil ways.

Yeah, and I think most of the original members don't like me because I'm the youngest in the entire club. But the nice thing is, is that they get out there at about the time I start to leave.

At one feild I go to, they have IMAC contests there. So I get there the day before to practice, and there are some members there. After I flew my sequence I practiced my freestyle routine just to change it up. There were some guys flying at the same time as me, so I try to follow the rules. My 3D stuff wasn't on the runway and my hovers were always in front of me, and when someone yelled, "Landing!" I'd pull out and wait till they had their plane on the bench. But sure enough, after I landed, a guy, who I have crossed paths before, complains that I was always over the runway, hovering in his face, and was sure that he was almost out of gas, and if he had came in deadstick, he would have to crash because I was on runway and I would have to pay for his lost plane. Of course that didn't happend becaused I followed the rules. So I cussed at him under my breath and apogized, after that though, I said to hell with him and left.

You are always going to find a few A-holes where ever you fly....that like to mutter planes weren't meant to fly like that, and complain about everything because they have nothing better to do. Thats life it 's a ***** so I just ignore the ones that do.

Yeah, it's times like that when people just aren't reasonable. If he had crashed then said that I had to pay for it. Unless it was a midair I would only maybe consider paying for it. Next time tell him to pack up and go home. Or maybe he should switch to kites. They would be less expensive and could fly in almost all weather.

I wish I could do that, but he's the member and I'm the "guest" flyer.

There's always going to be a not-so-nice person everywhere we go. I guess we just have to make the best out of the situation and concentrate on the nicer people without turning our backs on anyone.

I was at a field that a few friends of mine fly at, but i'm not a member, last spring. I do demos at lunch every time they have a fun fly, spring and fall, so I got to know most of the guys there. It was around 9:30 or 10, and the flying had just started, so i wanted to take up my .40 profile. I get started, carry the plane out to the pilot station, and get ready to taxi out. Meanwhile, (most of the club is oldtimers) another flyer (oldtimer member) comes out with a vintage era biplane, and another guy to help start. He doesn't have his engine running, but says "Now you wait till i get in the air seeing as i was here first" which he was, by a few seconds or so.

So he starts his engine, it stalls a few times, restarts, tunes, runs it up, stalls, restarts. This goes on for a minute or 2. I'm standing with my leg infront of an elevator, revving my engine now and then to keep it warm, waiting. He stalls and starts to look everything over, so i squeak out and take off. I was on the runway for a total of MAYBE 3 seconds, and as soon as i make my first turn, i see a shadow on my left. "NOW LOOK, I SAID YOU WAS GONNA WAIT TILL I GOT IN THE AIR!" in a stern spit-spitting voice. I'm kinda ticked, so i make 2 laps and land. Walk back to our canopy, and unfuel.

Later on I flew my demos, forgetting about that guy. I hadn't seen him after he crashed his biplane, he took off, half a lap, and deadsticked, until right before i left.

He was complaining to the fun fly director about my taking off before him. For my sake, the guy running the fun fly was a good friend of mine, and had seen the whole thing. The guy who was so cross had just joined a month before, and already built a pretty bad reputation.

I don't have anything against the older flyers, or the club. There's always going to be that one stick in the mud that you clip on an inverted pass.
