| uber has-been. | Thanks Storke! Hey there Steve! How you been man, long time no see! Agreed, the new site is going to be pretty cool. I can't wait to get back in the groove. There is the possibility that we will have access to facilities as well (power, internet?). Anyways, can't wait to get back together with you guys. Keep in touch! MD

| Uber Contributer ![]() | That would be too cool. Access to power means you can charge the big electrics without lugging around a honda generator. Anyway, I look forward to getting back on the regular flying schedule. When's the work party starting? Let's tamp down some dirt and go flying. |

| Uber Contributer ![]() | Hey Max, I haven't been out flying much this year. Work, travel, rain. Kevin's burning gas and looking pretty sharp in the air ( I hear he is now getting volume discounts from Unocal) , I've only seen SJ and Showtime once this season when the moons and stars aligned, we had nice weather, I was in town, and they were flying at Riverside. I hope things settle down quickly since I miss the scene. Enjoy Toledo. My dad and brother are going to be there Friday. It's a shame since I'm in that neck of the woods for a wedding but my schedule won't allow a trip over to Toledo. Later |

| uber has-been. | Merged a few threads here folks... Just another board meeting update from Tuesday.. and this one is BIG! OCMA has secured a new site at Irvine Lake, and the process to begin construction is underway. Current OCMA members must obtain a new badge and sign an Irvine Company waiver before gaining admittance to the facility. Once you have met these requirements, you can go check out the site. Feel free to fire up some electrics, but DO NOT attempt to fly glow or gas planes at the site. Currently the site is unusable, and much work is needed before maiden flights take place. The board has approved a construction budget of $40,000 that will cover grading, runway, pits, and the many ancillary items that are required to get a new field up and running. The ground at this facility is about 4" of dirt top soil with rock underneath. It's going to take some doing, but we are targeting completion by July 15th. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here. Also be sure to check out www.flyocma.com for more details. I'll do my best to keep you all in the loop. Thanks! Max Duncan Secretary, Orange County Modeler's Association

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | Max, What is the bird nesting story? Do you know if they found any nesting? Because I got to meet Bob at Prado and he told me if they find nesting, it will delay the opening. I'm just curious to see if they found any nesting or we are on roll. Can't wait to have a closer field for flying. $25 of gas anytime I go flying is getting outrages. Thanks, Reza

| I knocked a horse out once. ![]() | Sleepy, it's So Cal dude. A house costs $40,000,000 for a 2 br fixer upper. Max has often tipped 7-11 cashiers $35,000 for a big gulp and a Slim Jim. All a matter of relativity. (I'm kidding here fellas!) Max has never tipped more than $25,000! |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | Bob and sleepy, Honestly, you guys are lucky that you don't have to live here. The first opportunity that I get I will be moving to another state, may be AZ. With even high engineering degree and a good salary I still cannot afford a townhouse here. Driving 120 miles a day round trip to work, traffic, price of gas everything is getting just ridiculous. Just to get to the flying club is 100 miles for me. Max hasn't flown for ages because he doesn't want to take the drive but I'm more addicted than being able to do that, so I make the drive out every week ![]() 2 bdr condo can cost you from $430 to over $550 k that's still a lot of money and most people like me who earned evrything on their own will have lots of problem affording this kind of money ![]() Now you know why I can't wait for this new club to open up!
