Default Re: Florida Freestyle Aerobatics Association - FFAA

Thanks Doug. Dad got me started at age 7 with a 5 cent glider (remember those....came in a plastic bag and went together in 5 seconds? I got my first ride in his 1966 Champion 7GCAA 150 hp Citabria when I was about 13. I got to hold the wings level and try to keep it at 2000' which slowly became 4000'. Been hooked ever since I had to wait until I turned 16 for the private pilot, until I turned 18 for the Commercial Pilot Licence and was the first pilot to hold a letter of competence from the FAA when I was 20 to keep my flying job (Part 135-2 air taxi). The regulations changed and required the Airline Transport Pilot rating to fly 135-2 but I was already working for a carrier and the reg would cause me to lose my job due to being underage. On my 23rd birthday they issued my formal ATP rating.

But nothing compares to aerobatic R/C flying.

Nowadays dear ole' dad is grounded and only does hangar flying

Cool beans, I just got off the phone with a great FG brother who lives 5 minutes from DFW and will pick up my engine tomorrow from the HazMat people and ship it to me. My 35% is hungry for an engine and it looks like it might be up and runnin' ready to HUCK with the A game on the 30th!!!!!
