I just bought a new Toshiba with two 2 gig processors, 4 gig of ram, and a nvidia 7900 video card. I had a 3 year old toshiba that ran 3.5 with no problem. Well, when I got the new computer, g3.5 "strobed" every 4 seconds, I couldn't believe it. So I bought g4 hoping it would work better on vista ultimate, to no avail. I was devastated. I was going into the hospital for a two level lower back fusion, and needed a sim!! Neither tech supports were able to help, realflight nor toshiba. I ended up fixing to problem by removing a bunch of the windows services that are pre-installed, and are hardle ever used. I found that now I am kicking myself for buying g4. I am an IMAC and freestyle flyer. The improvements to G4 seem to me to be mostly the water stuff, which I will never use. The one thing I did like, but is not that useful, is being able to import multiple planes at once. But, you will only use that once, and if you have any errors, it stops and doesn't try the rest.

the problem isn’t the trim it's that models made by different people will have different decalage on the tail surfaces, if you trim the model using the hor-stab incidence then all the models will trim out the same for good

unless you are talking about the afp tx box, that thing doesnt hold calibtarion well, i use my own real tx, which is probably the best way to go no matter that sim you get.

prizzy,,,, the problems you're having is Vista. I had a new Dell XPS system made an orderd it with XP.. Vista is just a resource hog.

Prizzy - The problem is probably your video card drivers. Chances are the machine came with old drivers not optimized for Vista. I run G4 on my machine which is running Vista Ultimate and the sim is trouble free even at high resolutions. I am using a 8800GT now, but I was using a 7900 series card and it ran G3 and G4 well.

66stang - Vista is not a resource hog, it just uses RAM differently than XP, which is better IMO.

Heres my experience. I could easily hover in G3 but couldn't hover my .40 3D for real. Then I flew FS One for about 40 hours and now I hover my .40 (Pheonix Funstar) No tweaking involved on either one so it may not be realistic but the fact remains that FS One got me going. I don't want no argument, I'm just stating my experience and leaving it at that. Thank you.

It seems that most people are going for the fsone. I feel that after doing my homework and trying out all the demos I will too be following suit and getting the fsone as well this weekend if all goes to plan.

Well I now own fsone and am looking forward to installing it. Is it easy to set up with the hitec optic 6? I was told it is the most realistic when it comes to the physics of the models and the position on the screen. Cant wait to carve some holes in the sky, what fun! It kicks butt! I managed to get the Tx all sorted and have been on it all afternoon soooooooo much fun.

I have AFPD, G4 and FS1. I rate AFPD as #1, G4 as 2nd, and FS1 as...... ? Does anyone want to buy FS1 cheap?

It is frustrating when you can't fly better on a sim than in real life isn't it?

i only have experience with the G4. i absolutely love it. here in iowa we don't get a lot of flying done in the winter... we still have club gatherings and fly the G4. pretty darn realistic and the neatest thing is....we learn something new it can do on a daily basis. from downloads of new airplanes, fields, engines, props etc. there is always fun to be had.
just my $.02

Have you figured out how to get the free expansion packs offered by Horizon into the G4 program ? I've downloaded them but can't figure out how to get them recognized by G4.
