Default Realflight G3.5 or FS one?

Hey,
I think I am going to get one sim or the other. Please keep it objective, but I dont know which one to get. Also, if anyone has a video of FS one please send me a link. Thanks for all input.

Beg to disagree...

Although G3.5 has great visuals... after a bit of tweeking FS one has outstanding physics...

In reality its a toss up...

G3.5 has MANY MANY more planes and such..
but FSone is 2 months old, give it time and I'm sure it will shine.

People have complained about realflight g3.5 ever since the upgrade. Users feel like they are not getting any results/patches to problems quick enough. I do see a difference between 3.0 and 3.5 but i use it more for training my hands then i do on mastering moves with great precision. Take for an example, hovering. If you can hover on 3.5 then you are on a good path to doing it in real life... I have no idea about the other product. I didn't vote because i don't know the other product.. I like my G3.5 liked 3.0 better. I am not going out looking at others at this time.....

Good luck

FS1.....Better physics in my opinion. Personally I could care less about fancy backgrounds with trees, windmills. If it were up to me, they could all just give me a runway in the middle of a baron desert and shave the price in half or apply it back into making the physics perfect. I just want the plane to "feel" like a real model.

Exactly what "tweeking" does FS One need before it's realistic? Does the sim's physics need to be modified, each individual plane, flying fields, etc.? If someone has had good "realism" with FS One, I'd like to see a how-to guide as to what was done.

I'm flying G3.5, FS One, ReflexXTR and AFPD, and so far FS One feels "mushy" to me like everything wants to over-rotate. It's got a very "floaty" feeling to it like all the planes are full of helium and too light...

G3.5 has my vote for realism, training and instruction and current user base producing custom models. (Note that I DO have to pay special attention to which version the creator of a model was using when they exported it... IE: G3 models don't fly well in G3.5...)

I get the extreme opposite from FSone and g3.5.

To me G3.5 planes will hover almost effortlessy, at 1/4 throttle, and when you chop the throttle, the planes hang for a second, and then slightly fall off course. Inverted harriers are almost impossible (for me anyways) and the elevator in high alpha is very strange.

In Fsone, if you don't work the throttle constantly during a hover or any high alpha flight, the plane falls like a rock (like a real plane) inverted harriers and parachutes are pretty darn realistic. it can feel mushy when rolling.. but the way the airplane reacts to inputs especially at high alpha attitudes makes it a champ in my eyes.

I fly AFPD, G3.5 and FSone in rotation all the time. And right now FSone is my selection for more realstic 3D flight.

If your doing IMAC.. G3.5 on low rates is pretty darn nice...

Oh and as for tweeks to FS one.. I just used real numbers on the H9 edge.
I made it 23 lbs, used a 27" prop and made the motor have 9.8 HP. Also moved the CJ back .5"

That plane with those settings flys very much like my Wh 260, and even my 35% panzl.

I'm no expert or a pro, but I can sense when a plane flys like one of my planes...

Even at that.. FSone does do things differently that my real planes.. but at this point, I don't think any of the available sims mimic flight 100%.

Have it too..
AFPD has great points as well..
thats the thing.. if you could combine all 4 major sims together, you have one GREAT one!

I'm in full agreement of everything SleepyC wrote.
I flew G3 for over a year and then tried FSOne right when 3.5 came out. I prefer FSOne for 3D as its physics seem to be much more realistic.

So what I'm hearing here is that G3.5 AND FSOne both need some tweaking to the individual planes to make them fly like they do IRL....

I guess that makes it a toss-up, in that both are extremely realistic as far as what the modeler needs to do to get a plane flying right.... In real life (IRL) you'll normally need to spend a bit of time moving CG's, adjusting gear and controls, etc... before the plane will stop flying "funky"....

I can say that my use of all 4 sims has made me a bit of a "hero" at the field too. Several times now I've recognized familiar flight "problems" with friends' aircraft and immediately knew what "tweeks" were needed in the sims to make it work right. I've corrected that stuff twice at the field and amazed folks because it was a mystery to them.

If any sim (or all 4) can be used to make me a better pilot/modeler, I'm all for it... Besides, all 4 major sims and a new computer to run them on still cost less than the last plane I stuck in the dirt when my thumbs got dumb and crossed up!

That's my theory as well... rotate between all of them and your ready for anything.

With Heli's i have noticed a BIG divide in how they fly...
and I'm not sure which is right, because I'm just getting into my first heli... but I'm just going to get good on all 4 and I have a feeling that will be beneficial when I take up my "machine"
