I've flown and / or owned G2 G3 G4 and Aerofly Pro. I have to vote for AFPD for several reasons, but primarily it provides the most realistic flight.

I own G4 and just recently got AF. My vote goes to AF, as the flight physics seem much more realistic. G4 seems more polished though, and the included controlled is better.

Also seems like the planes don't get really small, really fast, in AF like they do in G4--all else being equal.

I'm currently flying at the castle in AF, with a giant scale Giles. Practicing 3G and harrier landings (really have to drop it in there).

I think the Aerofly has the best graphics and has more relistic appearance and plane movement. I fly mainly 3D plane and as they get further out, they maintain there shape real good where as Realflight looks distorted when far way and it hard to make out the shape of the bird. One other thing I like about Aerofly is the realistic movement of the plane on the ground. The planes on my old g4 when moving on grass looked as if there were on a super hwy! The Aerofly planes actually look like there as on a rough surface. You can see the plane and wing dipping and bouncing as if it were running over small pot holes. Now there are some planes that aren't too realistic but I find the 3D planes fly very realistic. For my buck, I'm for Aerofly all the way.

AFPD for me - I love it and have been using it for the past 5 years.

AFPD is great and would be even better if they would sell a newer version......

I know two guys which were flying AFPD and had learned to do rolling harrier in AFPD but could not do it in real life. I gave them advice to try RF G4,5, and both are able to do it. For 3D flying my vote definetly is is for RF.
By the way G4,5 has better physics as G4.

Thats it! Many people think realflight is bad (=hard?) cause they cant do 3D in it, and prefer the easier nonrealistic AFPD. The physics in afpd are just not up to the realflight, planes in realflight dont have that kind of scripted flying characters like afpd vanilla planes. I still like afpd for different planes doing touch downs, but after few mins i get bored and move on to real simulators. And comon "planes are too small in realflight camera" you better stick with games like afpd then..

IPACS is supposed to be releasing a new version of AFPD this month.

I vote AFPD. Better physics & realism all around. Don't let glitzy graphics and pretty airplanes bias your judgement about flight realism.

Indeed, i fly without flashy glimmer and eye candy. Im still amazed how bad physics aerofly has, and people say its realistic Although, i just found yak55 that is acceptable to fly and train 3D in afpd. I still engourage people to try flightsims, not games with rc aircarft in it. FMS is just older version of afpd in my mind

Ps, have you ever seen planes falling backwards from sky with 1/3 throttle? Afpd just avoids physics and replaces it with recovery possibilities real planes wouldnt have. And the rudder on most plane has more lift than wings combined. Talk about realism? Afpd seems to have like real aircraft prop wash that makes rudder effective to fly knife edge at 10mph, yeah realistic.

Try to solve your personal issues against real flight, it would really help you learn to fly like real rc crafts fly. Still, have to say, that most of the user planes in real flight are crap, cause they edit them to fly like afpd paper planes. The stock planes resemble real life with correct stalls and lift variables.
I dont know why i write this stuff, its not my problem if someone likes to neglect reality and play videogames instead, cause its more fun than realistic options.

Exclamation Re: AFPD or G3 which is better.....

We all have our opinions, you're entitled too.

I fly with a crew of giant scale 3D pilots, and they ALL agree AFPD is the most realistic for training. I have Reflex XTR, AFPD and Realflight. I find AFPD to most resemble the aircraft I fly, 30% and 40% Yaks. You do need to find a good airplane, some are indeed fake. The Extreme Flight Yak and the QQ Yak are good ones, and if you turn up the speed to 110-120%, it sharpens your skills pretty well.

IMHO, none of the sims are perfect. There are things they just don't get right like momentum for heavier scale and tail slide behavior. But, from my humble perspective, AFPD does the best job.

As I said last year... I own both and prefer AFPD. I wouldn't say either are "crap." As (most) people have said, the physics in AFPD feel closer to the planes I actually fly (30%-40%, balsa and C-ARF). That goes for 3D too. That does not mean I think RF is a toy, or a joke. 'Cuz I don't.

I will say be wary of anyone who puts down one to better the other. Me no likey that tactic.
