After an update to a better video card for "Gaming", I have had no problems with G3, 3.5 or now 4. The controller is basically a Futaba 6EXA controller and it works great. I too have a 14MZ and obviously there is no comparison but there shouldnt be! I like it better than the controller that came with Aerofly.....

I think it's just fine the G4, I sold my 3.5 license and got the new 4 and I like it. I have this 32" dell screen and I tend to do FunFly with friends at night, with a beer and all, hehe I like it. One friend went to the field with FSOne and the only thing I liked more was the aircrafts, I'm getting a fan of Hangar 9 aircrafts, but the phisics are pretty much the same. If you don't like it get it back. |

| Nothing wrong with FSone either! The graphics are pretty much the same on my high end graphics card, I also have an LCD screen which is really clear making it easier to see. I think that for the price,FSone is just as good as G4.But hey thats my opinion. Over here in New Zealand G4 is like $500 without the add-on discs. |

I love My G4. Except I have to send in my controller to get repaired. One night my wife was flying on it and I was watching trying to coach her, when all of a sudden she just kept fighting to keep it from banking left. I thought it was just her. Well I got on and started to fly and it did it to me also so I tried to trim it to no avail. When I called the tech center they didn't seem suprised and told me to send it in to get a new one. It is a hassle but no problems.

Folgado: Your experience may be due more to VISTA than G4. I have G4 running on my "E" drive in VISTA environment. I am not happy with many aspects of the presentation or responsiveness of G4. I have the environment very clean on "E" drive , no 15 different programs running in background or heavy processor loading. I also have G4 running on my "C" drive in Windows XP-Professional environment and find it to be excellent. Much better presentation and responsiveness. I have a much heavier load on my system on the "C" drive and it still performs better. I have had all versions of Real Flight moving thru various upgrades and then finally bought the complete G3.0 software and controller, then did the online upgrade to 3.5. They have all been excellent. As for your feeling that the menus, etc all look the same, THAT'S A GOOD THING ! I am a retired systems analyst and have designed quite a bit of company propriatary software (internal use only) and I can tell you that change for change sake only causes user confusion. My system is middle of the road, Celeron-D processor 2.66 gHz, 2.0 gb ram 60 ns, nVidia GeForce 7600GT w/512 mb dedicated ram, Westinghouse 19" LCD set at 1440 X 900 w/32 bit data stream. My box has a AGP slot not even PCIe and the graphics are excellent. I don't recall if you stated you dedicated video ram, you really need at least 512 MB, if your box has PCIe slots go for broke on the video ram at 64 bit. In any event if you retained your previous operating system on a separeate drive you may want to load up your G4 on that system and see how it performs. VISTA is still going thru the early release problems that all software has. When one considers the absolutely mountain of work that windows performs for us it is a wonder to behold. When I started, we talked directly to DOS and 640-kb of ram was monumental. My first compter had 64-kb and two 320-kb floppy drives, NO HARD DRIVE AT ALL ! So those are my observations for what they are worth (free), hope you can arrive at at a better situation. Best, E T Milton, WI USA |

Folgado: I just sent you message on my G4 experience and I wasn't sure if you had mentioned your video ram on the 8800 card, I checked and see you are at 512-mb. So with that in mind you may want to check the background load on your box. E T |

Guess what!! I installed my G4 on my laptop to take it with me to my holydays and finally I start to use it properly. After setting all the video options off or at the minimum I loaded the stock Yak 54 3D version and set the physics to 130%. BIG SURPRISE! It performed well, what a big difference at 130%, does not feel like a toy anymore... The graphics really sucks, but the physics were a big surprise at these settings. I found it a bit more exact in little details regarding to AFPD, example: tail slides, are not possible in AFPD! G4 does it very realistically. After all that I said previously regarding G4 I could never write this reply, but I think I should do it. Forgetting the graphics and at 130% physics the G4 have potential. One thing that is much better than AFPD is the wind modulation, much more real.
