Default REAL FLIGHT G4 !!!!!FIASCO!!!!!

I am so DISAPPOINTED with the G4!

I just receive the software package yesterday, and as soon as you open the box you see the "Futaba" interlink controller, it feels so incredibly cheap that you start already to think that you just give way $200 USD...

Anyway I quickly installed it with the hope that the G4 would render itself with an outstanding new flight simulation experience.

let me start to say that I have the following PC:

Intel Pentium IV 3,6 MHz
2 GB RAM
Nvidia NE8800 GT 512 MB
24" TFT monitor at 1920x1200 resolution

Just immediately after you start the program you realize that it is so shockingly similar to G3.5, the menus, the options, nothing really new that catches your attention.

And them I proceeded to the flight simulation using the Extra 330L and a photo scenery, as soon as the program loaded I thought I was going to lose my senses.

The Graphics are just horrible!!!! The photo scenery it is no better than G3.5 and miles way regarding other Sims!

I launched the Extra 330 and the plane looks like a toy! This is not a flight simulator, this is a PC game for kids..

Come on... Is this a problem with my PC, or, please tell me that I did something very wrong!
My graphic card is not the best in the market, but it is one of the high end cards available at the moment, and I have 2 GB of RAM!

I have no more words for such a bad experience.

I have to say that I own AFPD, G3.5, Phoenix and FS one, meaning that I have references.

I already came back to AFPD, which is without any doubt the best Sim available in the market!

Again, please tell me that I did something wrong, I was a big fan of Real Flight Simulators…

The controller was worse than FS one in your opinion!? In any case you can always use your own.
I dont own G4 (I have G3.5) but I've flown it a fair bit at shows. A lot of the physics seemed ever so slightly improved to me, most notably in the heli 3d flight. Nothing drastic but its there.

Being "shockingly familiar" is a good thing! Who wants to learn new menus? (I hate the new MS Word hahaha)
Can you elaborate on what exactly you didn't like about the photo scenery? I dont see how you could like 3.5 but dislike 4. How many FPS are you getting, and how does it compare to the other sims?

You should not reinvent the user interface every iteration unless there is something wrong with it from a usability perspective. G4 is not perfect, but the user interface is the best of every simulator on the market. You may want to check the hardware settings in the Nvidia control panel to ensure your Direct X 9 3D settings are all turned on. You should also download and install the latest Forceware drivers from Nvidia.

I have FSOne, AFPD, G3.5, and G4 and I have to say that G4 is hands down the best. Graphically, AFPD pales in comparison to G4, so there is something wrong with your computer set-up if you think otherwise.

Well, I'm happy that may be I don´t have enough PC for G4, but I do have for all others.

I run AFPD at 500 FPS, Phoenix at 100 FPS anfd G4 at 150 FPS, I guess the FPS are not the problem.

I have Vista with Direct X 10.

The problem with the graphics is that the resolution is not any near of 1920x1200 which is the optimal resolution for my monitor.

The graphs looks really bad!

Don't take me wrong, Real Flight sims were my "first love", I have all versions since Real Flight G1.

You guys didn't tell us what are your PC's, could be the processor, G4 might need a due core or quad core...

See for yourself what I mean...

In the first photo, look of what was supposed to be a asphalt runway, it is a computer generated object inside a photo scenery!

In the second one, whatch the tree details.

I'm running at 1920x1200 32bit and I put everything in the maximum at grafhic settings.

I can get only around 60 FPS with everything at maximum.

AFPD and Phoenix are so much crispy in the same PC!

Can someone show some photos of their G4?

I think they screwed the pooch on the controller. Moving the throttle hold from where it has been located on most every radio for the last 25 years was just plain old stupid.
